  197. Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will share the bill with his new band, Phil

  219.      NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1999--Given the Grateful Dead's
  220. vast release of material from their vault (14 and soon to be 15 "Dick's Picks"
  221. two-track shows, as well as 5 CD's of multitrack live material), it comes as a
  222. bit of a surprise that they have not yet released a full-bore boxed set of
  223. rarities and obscuriana.

  225.      Your wait is over. "So Many Roads (1965-1995)," out November 9,1999 on
  226. Grateful Dead Records/Arista, will be a 5-CD package full of all the goodies
  227. Dead Heads have been awaiting, including studio out-takes, inspired moments,
  228. and you-name-it.

  230.      "So Many Roads (1965-1995)" was compiled by a committee that included the
  231. late Dick Latvala, Grateful Dead Hour host David Gans, Wired editor Steve
  232. Silberman, co-author of Skeleton Key: A Dictionary for Deadheads,, and Blair
  233. Jackson, editor of the best fan magazine of all time, The Golden Road, and the
  234. new Garcia: An American Life. It will feature archival packaging, with
  235. unpublished photos and essays by prominent writers.

  237.      Three examples of what you'll find: "You Don't Have to Ask," a live
  238. version of an unreleased and terribly obscure Dead tune from 1966, "Cream Puff
  239. War," from 1966, and the studio version of the legendary "Mason's Children."
  240. Also, studio rehearsal versions of the "missing album" of material from the
  241. last days of the Dead, like "So Many Roads" and "Days Between."
