Hey all,
Q:
Anybody know of any shows where Dew is directly followed by NFA? It
doesn't matter to me if it segues, comes to a full stop, or crosses
into the encore, as long as NFA is the next song played after Dew. A
couple of examples that I already know of/have: Buffalo, NY 7/4/89
(segue to end 2nd), Mtn. Aire (?Angel's Camp?), CA 8/23/87 (crosses
into encore). Any others? Oh, just by way of explanation, besides
being two of my favorite tunes musically, I really like the themes and
emotions as well, and I just can't think of a better, more reaffirming
tune to follow a monumental Dew.
Upload:
I uploaded a file DewNFA070489.au to the drop-box at
gdead.berkeley.edu. Should be apparent what's in there ;-). Jerry gets
a verse out of order in Dew, and there's a funny moment at the end of
NFA where Jerry/Brent do the first "mmm-bop, bop, bop-bop" and then
Bob bops one off all by himself.
Stats:
Every now and then, folks kick around the notion of computer-based
music distribution. So, for those interested, comparative stats for
the sample I uploaded vs. the sample I actually recorded:
Upload Original
------ --------
Encoding: 8-bit u-law 16-bit linear
Sample Rate: 8kHz 8kHz
Channels: mono stereo
Compression: none none
Playing Time: 0:19:42 0:19:42
Size: 9462985 (9M) 37851844 (36M)
Uhm, which actually makes alot of sense. I'm no audiotech, so there
may be other factors at work here, but the size of the original is
almost exactly 4 times the size of the upload, where the encoding uses
twice as many bits and there are twice as many channels! Heh, heh,
math is cool! Oh well, since I went to the trouble of typing the stuff
in, I think I'll just leave it. Anyone wanna guess how big the file
would be if I'd used a CD (44.1kHz) or DAT (48kHz) sampling rate? ;-)
Didn't really intend for this to be so wordy, sorry. ;-)
