  131.
  132.
  133. This is a relatively new venue. It was just opened last summer and was the
  134. home of the infamous Guns-n-Roses "riot".
  135.
  136. We saw Reggae Sunsplash here last night (6/21/94) and checked it out.
  137.
  138. The place is pretty much symetrical, so make sure you know what side
  139. of the parking lot you come in from, because they both look exactly the
  140. same at night unless you have some knowledge of navigation using the
  141. constellations.
  142.
  143. Overall, I'd give this venue a solid "Pretty Good". Lots of place to wander
  144. around inside, much like Shoreline. The lawn is about the size of Deer Creek's
  145. while the pavillion seems to be about Shoreline size (pretty big). The pavillion
  146. is covered by a flat corrugated steel roof ( have fun, Cutler ! ). The sound
  147. overall was suprisingly good, though - even at the back of the lawn.
  148.
  149. There security staff is made up of lower to mid twenties aged folks who
  150. enjoyed the show as much as anyone else inside. We even saw a few of them
  151. trying out there new ceramic bong! At Reggae Sunsplash, there were vendors
  152. in the plaza area selling reggae-oriented goods like clothes, incense,
  153. and cleverly disguised paraphenalia. We can only hope they do something
  154. like this for the Dead next year.
  155.
  156. The parking lots look like they could get a little warm, as they are
  157. made of fresh, black asphalt. Parking was $5.
  158.
  159. Most of the hotels listed for Maryland Heights are quite a hike from the
  160. venue. They are closer to Lambert Airfield than to Riverport.
  161.
  162. The closest hotel to the venue is the Doubletree Club Hotel Riverport
  163. which is adjacent to the parking lot. The Hampton, Drury Inn, Best Western,
  164. Marriot, etc are over by the airport. There is also a Motel 6 ($31.99)
  165. in the same hotel cluster that is not on the Dead's list.
