John Scott writes:
In this, our first mailing, we are pleased to announce that DeadBase X
has finally gone to the printers. As press schedules are tight, the best
promise our printers had was to ship it on December 5th, barely in time
for us to distribute it in time for Christmas. The postcards have been
going out to our faithful customers, and we are now taking advanced
orders for DeadBase X; edition numbers are on a postmark priority.
DeadBase X is our greatest edition to date. Despite trying our best to
keep the page count "down" to the 576 of the last four editions, there
was just too much new material -- the new book is 608 pages. This was
despite removing the Jerry Garcia solo lists and seating charts, and
despite setting the lists in a smaller, two-column format (this compact
format is also easier to scan through for a particular show). Nearly
half the book is brand new material.
Contents:
Set Lists -- set lists for 1965 - 1995, including many newly-discovered
lists
Songs Played - information on the songs the Dead have performed
Discography - the Dead on vinyl, in print, and on video
Table - a yearly table of the songs played
Statistics - extensive statistics on the songs played
Played/Not Played - a look at how the Dead's playlist evolved
Every Time Played - complete cross-reference by song, a favorite
Places Played - cross-reference by venue
Feedback - our exhaustive survey of the best of the Dead on tape
Deadhead Survey - demographic survey of Deadheads
Timings - timings of classic Dead tapes
Reviews - over 400 concert and tape reviews, featuring many new live
reviews from the early 70's
DeadBase '95:
Timings '95 -- complete timings for every show
Photos '95 -- every stand is represented on 32 pages
Feedback '95 -- an extensive survey covering the Grateful Dead and
Deadhead culture in 1995
Reviews '95 -- every concert covered, some with three or four
opinions
Odds & Ends -- an eclectic assortment of square-peg information
We prefer that you mail us a money order or check -- there is plenty of
time for checks to clear, and credit cards cost us. We do also take Visa
and Mastercard (please remember the expiration date). For credit card
orders, our policy is to charge cards upon receipt of the order to give
you the lowest edition number possible. If you do not care about the
edition number, and would prefer that we do not charge your card until
the books return from the printers, please make this clear in your order.
