  12. Due to poular demand, and thanks to the energy I
  13. picked up in Oregon this weekend, I whipped up a
  14. non-After Dark version of the screen saver I advertised
  15. here last week.  It's available at gdead.berkeley.edu
  16. in /pub/gdead/ibm/eyelidmv.zip (Thanks to Chris Kirby
  17. for suggesting that I call it "Eyelid Movies" instead
  18. of "Crazy String")  The After Dark version has been
  19. renamed, it is now called ILIDMVAD.ZIP in the same
  20. place.

  22. In case you missed it last week, this is a psychedelic
  23. screen saver that I figure fellow Deadheads would appreciate.
  24. I intend to distribute it widely, but wanted to show
  25. it to yinz first, since this is the only newsgroup I
  26. read on a regular basis. You NEED to have a PC-compatible
  27. running MS-Windows with *256* colors.

  29. To run it, unzip everything and place the contents into
  30. your windows directory.Then with the control panel, change
  31. the screen saver in the desktop screen to "Eyelid Movies"
  32.

  35. Beavis: "huh huh.. Dark Star Rules huh huh..."
  36. Butthead: "huh yeah, Dark Star Kicks Butt, huh huh.."

  41. Again, I'll mail anyone this stuff if they can't get
  42. it via FTP.  The non-AD version is quite long, though
  43. (171421 bytes) Say whether you need the AD or non-AD version.

  75. OK: imagine this:  There are two lines, with reflections in
  76. each quadrant for a total of 8 lines.  At first, it is pretty
  77. much a standard "moire" or "string" program, with each of the
  78. endpoints having an acceleration & velocity.  The acceleration
  79. is always the opposite of the velocity, so the lines curve
  80. around.  The cool psychedelic twist is the colors.  I
  81. constantly rotate the palette so that the colors move: imagine
  82. ribbons flowing through space... And then the kicker: the
  83. palettes are constantly blending from one color scheme to
  84. the next, linearly interpolating between the two.

  86. If you can find a PC with windows, check it out!
  87. The one with "AD" in the title is for After Dark, made
  88. by Berkeley Systems, and the other one is a generic
  89. Windows screen saver.
