Why would you use this text editor instead of the many already available on the PD scene? well one advantage of this program is that it runs on the workbench screen and therefore there is no need to switch back and forth between a custom screen and the workbench screen, the only text editor that I have that uses the workbench screen is TEXTRA which although its text handling functions are good I don't like its requesters, especially the file requester, and it hasn't got that many features, although it does have search and replace which this doesn't as yet. QU470 MENU MASTER III * + Y ===================== MenuMaster is intended to add a friendly front end to a collection of programs assembled on a single disk, (or hard drive). It allows the user to select and start a program (or programs if multitasking) without ever needing to access the CLI at all. Any program or command that can be started from the CLI can be included in the menu, which has a total of 32 selection options (or 24 in NTSC mode). There are several shareware/public domain programs similar to MenuMaster, but this one is still unique, in that it has its own built-in editor. The author was prompted to write this program because after making program additions or similar alterations to his own utility disks, he then had to use a separate menumaker program or text editor to modify the menu options. Now, with the built-in editor provided by MenuMaster, changes are quick and simple! Allows you to display any IFF picture in the main Workbench window, lets you edit the clock pointer used by programs when they are busy, you now have the ability to mess with the public fields of the trackdisk. This in many ways brings the features of workbench 3.0 to OS2 users. However this may be of great use to 3.0 users because it does have some stuff that OS3 does not have, good! QU760 BASE V1.1 + Y =============== Base is a CLI command usefull to programmers, for integer conversion between Decimal,Hexidecimal,Octal and Binary number bases. Base also converts keyboard characters to ASCII decimals (also Hex and Oct). The catch being you will need to have an extensively good knowledge of CLI and have a hard drive on your system in order to use this program. Full documentation is in the archive contents, but I really do recommend that you do not try to use this program if you are not an expert user of the Amiga. You can create ,edit, time and play animations of any size on your native Amiga chipset, or your graphic card (if supported). Program is archived in LHA format, so hard drive recommended. Features:- - Intelligent caching/tracking, MainActor can cache your animations and picture lists, if you have not enough memory it will directly access your data from any device. This makes it for example possible to create, edit and play a 400MB animation on your 2MB Amiga. - If you run OS 3.0 or higher, you will get an extra speed bonus on animations by the use of the new graphic routines. For OS2.0/2.1 users there are specific routines in the modules, which will give them the best playback speed possible on their system (and my knowledge :)). - Under OS 3.0 you will get the extra features of showing pictures or playing animations in a scrollable, resizable window on your MainActor or Workbench screen. The colors will be properly adjusted to your screen attributes. - The modules have play routines of their own, so it will be possible to redirect the input/output of special modules to graphic boards or othe hardware. - The play routines support a timecode per frame option. ExoticRipper offers a CLI like console interface to the user. If the Reqtools Library is present in LIBS: reading and writing checkdata or modules is performed via filerequesters. ALWAYS REMEMBER: ExoticRipper is an address ripper and not a brain replacement project! The authors take no responsibility in breaking your machine. ExoticRipper's aim is to make you boldly hear what no man has heard before, good eh! QU858 MULTI TOOL V2.1 + Y ===================== Multi Tool or MTOOL for short is another DirectoryOpus clone with one or two features that set it apart from other operating systems of the same nature. As well as the normal copying, moving, viewing and making directories, MTOOL offers the following extra features:- * The layout gives as much room as possible for the file lists. * The action gadgets are between the file lists. Compared to other programs, there are considerably fewer gadgets with considerably more complex functions. * Another listview above the action gadgets can be toggled between different options lists. QU867 AMIGA POINT V2.1 + Y ====================== The disk AmigaPoint_2.1 is a compilation of necessary software which is needed to get a FidoNET point up and running on the Amiga. QU880 PFS (PROFESSIONAL FILE SYSTEM) + Y ==================================== The standard AmigaDos filesystem (OFS) is not very fast. Commodore has tried to improve the performance of their filesystem a number of times. Workbench 2.0 added the fast file system (FFS), and now, with Workbench 3.0, we have the fast file system with directory caching (FFS-DC). This makes directoryscan faster but writing to disk and directory-operations like delete and rename are slower than ever. PFS is a filesystem that does better. The author used the knowledge he gained from his computer science study to make it as good as possible. The professional file system (PFS) has the following features:- High performance - write: 3-5 times faster - read: 50% faster - directoryscan: 10-20 times FFS, 3 times FFS-DC - delete/rename/protect etc: 10-20 times faster Other features - full AmigaDos compatibility Link Compatibility - upto 10% more data on a disk - better faulttolerance Link Faulttolerance - parallel access almost without performance loss - disks NEVER get invalidated This is the first version of the filesystem that supports harddisk partitions. Partitions up to 31MB are supported. Both double and high density floppy disks are supported. QU885 MR BACKUP V2.20 + Y ===================== MRBackup is a hard disk backup program for the Amiga. It provides a wide range of services to support Amiga file management and backup/restore of files to/from hard disk. Files can be backed up to: * Floppy disk, in AmigaDOS format * Floppy disk, in a special "fast" format * Any sequential file or device (local or networked) in "fast" format * SCSI streaming tape A saveset catalog file is created for each saveset, allowing quick retrieval of individual files when necessary. Should the catalog file become damaged or lost, MRBackup can recreate it by scanning the saveset. MRBackup is designed to behave well in your Amiga's multi-tasking environment. It does not "take over the machine". Delitracker is a very powerful GUI controled workbench application that plays virtually every music module formatt there is, good eh! Many people are still useing 1.3 and in many cases some people are now running two kickstart verions with hardware ROM swapper, so this guide catters for workbench 1.2/1.3, 2.04/2.00/2.01, 3.00/3.01 good eh! QU920 SCOUT + Y =========== Scout is a tool that allows you to monitor your computer system. It displays many different things -- like tasks, ports, assigns, expansion boards, resident commands, interrupts, etc. -- and you can perform some certain actions on them. For example you can freeze tasks, close windows and screens, release semaphores or remove locks, ports and interrupts. Through AmiTCP it's also possible to use Scout as an TCP/IP service. The program supports MUI and AmiTCP, but you can use nearly all implemented functions through shell parameters. Therefore it's not necessary to install MUI for using Scout, but you will need MUI, if you want to use Scout with its graphical user interface. QU924 SUPER DMS V2.0 + Y ==================== This adds a front end GUI to the DMS (Disk Masher System). This comes complete with the Parcon DMS program and full documenation. For those of you who don't know DMS, it compresses a floppy disk into a file which can be very useful for archiving and BBS downloading etc. This is version 2.0 and basically knocks socks off SUPER DMS V1.4. QU925 TRANSITION V1.0 + Y ===================== This is a very fully featured image converter with a few nice processing tools too boost! Supports IFF, GIF, PCX, JPEG, BMP, PMB+. Ditering, greyscale and Emboss plus more are all available. Will work with AGA or ECS. QU941 EASY CALC V2.0b + Y ===================== This is probably the best spreadsheet application on the Amiga. When you 1st load it up it looks like any other spreadsheet. Something else you also notice is that due to some rather brilliant coding it is extreamly fast! As far as speed goes this rivals the current commercial systems. There have been loads of optios added since the older version and new atractive GUI has also made it's apearance. Also on the disk is some ARexx stuff to make this program even better! QU954 NOSTROMO CHEATS V5.00 + Y =========================== The best and probably the last in the series of this popular cheats disk series. This time we have over 1200 cheats, mad eh! One other thing, this version has some superb art work and weard samples mixed in for good measure. QU970 FES BASIC PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE + Y ==================================== FES Basic is an implementation of the BASIC programming language on the Amiga Computer. QU971 SUPERDARK V2.1A + Y ===================== This is another fully functional modular screen blanker this time by Tom Soft with loads of different module blankers to keep you amused and amazed by your Amiga! The GUI is very easy to get to grips with and the program is a doddle to install on your hard disk (a hard disk is advised for this one). QU972 ADVANCED UTILITIES II * Y =========================== A disk focused on the real serious power users. Contents of disk:- CompressDisk Doubles capacity of hard drive! SCSImounter A SCSI mount utility. QU973 UDRAW V1.0 + Y ================ A drafting tool that is bitmap oriented rather than object oriented. The original intent with UDraw was to provide a mechanism for the rapid drawing of schematic diagrams. However, UDraw has applications beyond this original intent. Makes heavy use of "clip boards", files which contain clips of various items that are displayed simultaneously but behind the work area, parts of which can be lifted off and pasted to the working screen. Author: Ron Stefkovich. QU976 DEVELOPER + Y =============== Contains the official Commodore developers kits for the Amiga Guide and Commodore Install utilities. A must for developers, a useful bit of kit for the casual user. Brilliant as always! QU984 GAD TOOLS V2.2C + Y ===================== Reqtools.library is a standard Amiga shared, runtime library. The purpose of ReqTools is to make it a lot quicker and easier to build standard requesters into your programs. ReqTools is designed with Commodore's style guidelines in mind, all requesters have the look-and-feel of AmigaDOS Release 2. The library has been inspired by req.library (by Colin Fox & Bruce Dawson) and Commodore's own asl.library. You will find it shares a lot of the features with these two libraries, while it has some additional ones as well. While asl.library was great in look-and-feel it lacked quite a bit in the power department. This power is mostly available in req.library, but this doesn't fit in too well with AmigaDOS Release 2. So the idea for a new requester library was born. ReqTools features the following requesters: a query requester, a string requester, a number requester, a file requester, a font requester, a palette requester and new in release 2.0 of ReqTools a volume requester and a screen mode requester. Its main function is to hide physical disk errors from floppy disks and hard disks, so these disks can then be used without DOS showing read/write errors. Physical errors are actual hard errors on the disk surface. These errors will not format. On floppy disks this normally means that you throw the disk away. On some hard disks, you can remap these areas to good areas. NoErrors overcomes this problem by allocating these areas to a file, and writing this file to the disk. DOS will never look at these areas unless specifically requested, but as the file name of the file is an unprintable character this will never occur. All you will have to do with this disk is to simply note down the numbers of the letters you want then load paint package and you will find the letters stored in a drawer on this disk called letter-brushes. So now you can have a signature to be proud of, good eh! QU1052 QPD ADVANCED C64 EMULATORS DISK #1 Y ========================================= Blast into true nostalgia with this disk! The emulators on this disk will be a lot more accurate than the existing A64 package. Contents of disk:- Frodo First post-beta release of a new multitasking C64 emulator for the Amiga. OS2.1 and a 68020 (or better) are required. as well as copies of the original C64 ROMs, which are included. Frodo will require a fast A4000/060 machine with a graphics board to achieve a good speed! My A4000/040 has a Picasso with 6mb RAM and Frodo works just fine at about half speed :-(. AFX-64 C64 Emulator for Amiga with 68020 or higher. (both 2.0 and 3.0) sucks IMO. And I think the Amiga deserves good emulators like the PC has. I've seen Frodo now - good try, but way slower than AFX-64... I think this one probably beats it. MagiC64 MagiC64 is a C64 emulator for the Amiga, which tries to emulate a real C64 in an exact manner. Loads of features including Complete emulation of the 6510-CPU including illegal opcodes! QU1053 SIEGFRIED COPY V1.2 * + Y ========================== A new diskcopy program. This tool appears to have all the regular options and facilities that most copiers have these days. However I can't be too sure on that note because the entire documentation and the program itself is for those who are fluent in German! One thing is for certain this copier has some excellent sound effects and music that with the exception of the old "Blitter Copy", other copiers don't have! QU1058 EPU DISK STAKKER V1.7 + Y ============================ You can double space your hard drive using EPU. This tool will compress everything written to the hard drive and decompress it as it is used. The entire process is pretty much invisible to the user, especially if used on a fast machine. QU1174 SCRIBLE DEGRADERS + Y ======================== Well I guess you could say that this disk is something of a late comer to the library, but what it does it does well! The basic idea behind the disk is to allow you to run as much old non A1200 software as posible. The idea is nothing new and nor is this disk, but this disk has quite a good selection of utilities, loads from workbench, and generally does the job very well. This disk is very simlair to "QU968 QPD EMULATION DISK" the only real diferance is that this disk runs from workbench, the "QPD EMULATION DISK" runs from a CLI menu ("SCRIBLE DEGRADERS" also contains a few dedicated type patch programs etc.). Contains the folowing: Degrader; Fakemem; Embedder; KillAGA; RunLame V1.28; ReKick + docs. AGAfixes for PowerMonger WW1, JWWS, Powermonger and R-Type. QU1200 QPD SYSTEM & MEMORY UTILS + Y ================================ This is another compilation, compiled by who else but "me", so of course the compilation quality is of an excellent standard! The focus this time is on those ever useful bench mark/meter type tools, that show useful info about your Amiga. This type of thing comes in terribly useful when you have to show off to your friends, demonstrating how your Amiga can totally thrash their machine (be it MAC, Amiga, or PC) unless your machine is a slow one.
