  1. How to Manually Deinstall AQM
  2. -----------------------------
  3.  
  4. This document describes how to manually deinstall AQM.  
  5.  
  6. If you have the original distribution diskette available, 
  7. please use the "SETUP.EXE" program on that diskette to deinstall 
  8. AQM.  
  9.  
  10. These instructions are meant to be used only in the event that the
  11. original distribution diskette is unavailable, or
  12. the SETUP.EXE program on that diskette is not functioning.
  13.  
  14. WARNING!  Editing the Windows NT registry is a delicate
  15. procedure.  If it is not done correctly, it can damage
  16. a Windows NT installation, and even cause it not to boot.
  17. In most cases, but not all, this kind of damage can be
  18. corrected simply by choosing the "Last Known Good
  19. Configuration" by pressing the spacebar while the system
  20. is booting.  Argent Software Inc. can assume no responsibility
  21. for damage to the system or damages due to loss of data
  22. resulting from making these changes to the registry.

  26. HOW TO DEINSTALL AN AQM SERVER INSTALLATION
  27. ===========================================

  29. To deinstall a server installation, follow these steps:
  30.  
  31. 1)  Make sure that the AQM service is stopped.  
  32.     You can do this by:
  33.      - Using the Control Panel "Services" applet 
  34.        -or- 
  35.      - Using the AQM "qsystem/stop" command 
  36.  
  37. 2)  Start "Registry Editor" by entering "START REGEDT32" at
  38.     a Windows NT command prompt.
  39.  
  40. 3)  In "Registry Editor", select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
  41.     window and maximize it.
  42.  
  43. 4)  Under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" select the "SYSTEM" subkey,
  44.     then the "CurrentControlSet" subkey, then the "Control"
  45.     subkey, then the "Lsa" subkey.
  46.  
  47. 5)  In the right-hand pane, there should be a value called
  48.     "Authentication Packages".  Double-click this value to edit
  49.     it.  The contents of this value should be displayed, consisting
  50.     of "msv1_0", "AQMAP23D", and possibly one or more additional values.
  51.     
  52.     DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING EXCEPT THE "AQMAP23D" PART OF THE STRING.
  53.  
  54.     If you do change anything accidentally, select "Cancel" so the
  55.     changes won't take effect, and then double-click the value again
  56.     to edit it.
  57.  
  58. 6)  Carefully remove the "AQMAP23D" portion of the value.  Make
  59.     sure there are no blank lines in the value, and that all other
  60.     values that were there before, except for "AQMAP23D", are still
  61.     there.  Then select "OK". If in doubt, select "CANCEL". 
  62.  
  63. 7)  Go back the the "CurrentControlSet" subkey, and under that
  64.     expand the "Services" subkey.  Under that, there should be a
  65.     subkey called "Argent Queue Manager".  Select this subkey, then
  66.     select "Delete" under the "Edit" menu.  Registry Editor will ask
  67.     you to confirm that you want to delete the key and all of its
  68.     subkeys.  Make sure that the key selected is the "Argent Queue
  69.     Manager" key, then click "Yes" to delete the key.

  71. 8)  Go into the "SOFTWARE" key under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".
  72.     Under that, expand the "Argent" key and under that the "Argent
  73.     Queue Manager" key.  There should be a single key under that,
  74.     called "3.0".  Select the "Argent Queue Manager" key and delete
  75.     it.  If that was the only subkey under the "Argent" key, then
  76.     delete the "Argent" key also.
  77.  
  78. 9)  The changes you have made will not take effect until the
  79.     computer is restarted.  
  80.  
  81.     If you try to view the services at this point, you will get an 
  82.     error saying that the services database is locked.  This is normal.  
  83.     Reboot your computer.  
  84.  
  85.     Special note:
  86.      If the computer does not boot, and a blue "Stop" screen appears,
  87.      then reboot again and this time press the spacebar when "Press 
  88.      spacebar now to use the Last Known Good Configuration" message 
  89.      appears and call Argent Technical Support.
  90.  
  91. 10)  After the computer is rebooted, log back on, and now delete
  92.      the "AQM" directory and all subdirectories and files in it.  Also
  93.      delete the "AQMAP23D.DLL" file from your system directory (e.g. 
  94.      "x:\winnt\SYSTEM32").  The deinstallation should now be complete.

  98. HOW TO DEINSTALL AN AQM WORKSTATION INSTALLATION
  99. ================================================

  101. To deinstall a workstation installation, follow these steps:
  102.  
  103. 1)  Start "Registry Editor" by entering "START REGEDT32" at
  104.     a Windows NT command prompt.
  105.  
  106. 2)  In "Registry Editor", select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
  107.     window and maximize it.
  108.  
  109. 3)  Select the "SOFTWARE" key under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".
  110.     Under that, expand the "Argent" key and under that the "Argent
  111.     Queue Manager" key.  There should be a single key under that,
  112.     called "3.0".  Select the "Argent Queue Manager" key and delete
  113.     it.  If that was the only subkey under the "Argent" key, then
  114.     delete the "Argent" key also.
  115.  
  116. 4)  Delete the "AQM" directory and all subdirectories and files 
  117.     in it.  The deinstallation should now be complete.
