- ChangeKickstart
- ---------------
- By Fred Kohler

-
- Now that you have Kickstart 1.2, do you find yourself shutting off
- your Amiga to reboot with Kickstart 1.1 so you can run programs that don't
- work properly with 1.2? Until incompatible software is upgraded, you
- may find yourself doing this for quite some time. In the process, your
- Amiga's circuitry can begin to suffer from the frequent cold restarts.
- This utility program will allow you to change from Kickstart 1.2 to
- Kickstart 1.1 WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF YOUR AMIGA! To use the program from CLI,
- just type ChangeKickstart. The screen will then flicker a rainbow of colors
- and finally go blank. When the screen goes blank and your disk drive light
- has gone out, insert the version of Kickstart you want to change to in df0:
- and do a warm boot (press both Amiga keys and the CTRL key simultaneously).
- After a pause of a few seconds, the Amiga will boot up the version of
- Kickstart that you have inserted in df0: and request a Workbench disk. You
- can also switch from Kickstart 1.1 to Kickstart 1.2 with this program. To
- execute the program from Workbench, just double-click on the icon. The rest
- of the procedure is the same as the CLI procedure described above.
-
- Be cautious! Double-clicking the ChangeKickstart icon will force a complete
- re-boot of your Amiga. Any data in RAM will be LOST! This program works
- under AmigaDOS 1.1 and 1.2, so feel free to install ChangeKickstart on as
- many Workbench disks as you want so you can travel between 1.1 and 1.2 with
- relative ease.
