"The PLA purchased the Leclerc ARV with the K2D mine clearing kit just after the turn or the century to boost their engineering technology and capabilities. They renamed it the MTK-3 after the MTK-2 versions that they purchased from the Russians in the 1990s. The MTK-3 is based on the Leclerc's main battle tank chassis that has been lengthened to support the mineplow and a remote controlled hydraulic arm. It is armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun and the mineplow is fitted with an electromagnetic signature duplicator that can deactivate mines ahead of the vehicle."
