Editor Modules For BATTLESPIRE: An Elder Scrolls Legend
Created by Ken Baker w/Universal Game Editor 1.0
Welcome to Battlespire, now with these editing modules you just
might have a chance!
At the time of release of these modules (Jan. 3, 1998) I do not
have a web site up and stable, however I soon will. There I plan on
having UGE modules that I create and possibly modules from other people.
For now I am distributing via email to reputable game hint/cheat/file sites.
I currently charge no fee for my modules (this could change in the future
to something like $5 to $10 each ---> I'm not sure), but I do ask that
you register UGE. Jack put a lot into it, and it's a great tool for
gamers and for someone like me that doesn't want to sit around waiting
for someone to actually write a full fledged editor program for a game.
RULE #1. You must first create a character with the game. Next,
you must enter the game with your character and do some stuff like kill or
whatever. IF YOU DON'T, THE TWO FILES THAT NEED TO BE EDITED FOR YOUR
SAVE GAME WON'T BE PROPERLY CONFIGURED FOR EDITING. Now save your game.
For reference, the save games are directories under you BATSPIRE directory
and correspond to the following:
********* ********* ********* ********* *********
* SAVE0 * * SAVE1 * * SAVE2 * * SAVE3 * * SAVE4 *
* * * * * * * * * *
********* ********* ********* ********* *********
********* ********* ********* ********* *********
* SAVE5 * * SAVE6 * * SAVE7 * * SAVE8 * * SAVE9 *
* * * * * * * * * *
********* ********* ********* ********* *********
How to use the modules:
Unzip the contents of the .zip file into your UGE directory.
Fire up U.G.E., of course. The files you want to edit are in the
sub-directories BATSPIRE/SAVEx, where x is a number 0-9. The file names
involved are SAVETREE.DAT and SAVEVARS.DAT.
Notice that there are two .mdl files, BSPIRE01.MDL and BSPIRE02.MDL.
To edit your character you actually have to setup and use BSPIRE01.MDL to
access and edit BATSPIRE/SAVEx/SAVETREE.DAT, and BSPIRE02.MDL to access and
edit BATSPIRE/SAVEx/SAVEVARS.DAT. Make sure this is done correctly! If
the attributes shown don't look right, something is wrong...try again.
Every time you edit your character, use both editing modules and
make sure all values entered in one file are EXACTLY what you enter in the
second file! Each module has you put all values in twice, and then you
have to go and edit the second file. This means you have to enter everything
a total of 4 times. I know it's stressfull, don't thank me it's not my
fault. The way Bethesda set things up, this is the way it MUST be done.
Better than nothing though, eh...
A note regarding spells. The only thing supported is the ability
to change you character's SPELL POINT MULTIPLIER. The number entered
multipled by your INTELLIGENCE gives you your MAXIMUM SPELL POINTS!
INVENTORY EDITING IS NOT SUPPORTED, TOO COMPLEX FOR ME...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's about it for this module. It is the first one I've actually
put together, since Overkill seems to have disappeared it looks like I've
gotta do my own!!! I hope you find it usefull. Maybe if response is good,
and I feel like people appreciate the modules I'll make more. E-mail any
comments, questions, or whatever to me at kwbaker@hotmail.com.
PLEASE...limit requests. Special requests may necessitate small fee.
Keep in mind not every game is editable, AND I don't buy every game on the
market.
