You drag files out of the viewer, and they stick to the desktop. Just as with the shelf, you can copy, move, or link files and directories. For best results, autolaunch MonsterShelf from your dock, and don't use Backspace in Background mode.\
When you click on an icon in MonsterShelf, that file is selected in the Workspace. If you double click on the icon, MonsterShelf will open it using the appropriate application.\
The contents of your desktop are remembered across invocations of the program. To get rid of icons, just drag them to the edge and let go.\
MonsterShelf will also automatically display mounted disks, near the lower left corner of the screen. This feature only works on NEXTSTEP 3.1 and beyond.\
A simple grid mode allows MonsterShelf to align icons. If you set the grid mode to a size smaller than the icon's size, the icon will be scaled down to that size. This feature is handy for portable computers that have small screens.\
Icons are automatically removed from MonsterShelf when you successfully drag them to another application. To override this feature, hold down the Alternate key when you pick up the icon.\
About backgrounds: MonsterShelf creates a window as far in back of other windows as possible. In Background mode, BackSpace will cover MonsterShelf. On startup, MonsterShelf copies the screen background color. If you change the screen background, quit and restart MonsterShelf.\
