- A Resource About Buckle Up
-

- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Since all fifty states as well as the District of Columbia now require to
- you to "Buckle Up" before you drive away, the subject of safety seat belts and
- child safety seats is certainly one of interest to all. But what if you are
- pregnant and your lap is just a bit smaller than usual with the place now
- occupied by a temporarily expanded waist line? Is it safe to use a seat belt
- under such conditions, or will the baby be at risk? The American College of
- Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Resource Center (AB), 409 12th Street, SW,
- Washington, DC 20024-2188 have just release a fine education pamphlet entitled
- "Car Safety for You and Your Baby" which addresses all these issues and more.
- It will reassure you about the safety and protection that seat belts offer
- both you and your child, and describe the correct manner of placing the belt
- around you so that its purpose may be achieved without any dangers. Many
- people have developed fine sounding excuses for not buckling up and this
- pamphlet contains five such statements with all the appropriate responses that
- clearly demonstrate the advantages of taking this simple and quickly
- accomplished safety measure. The pamphlet is yours, free, upon request to the
- address above, and must be accompanied by a stamped self addressed business
- sized envelope.
