Transcription: On March 12th, Roosevelt gave his first radio address to the country. It was called a Fireside Chat. It got that name because FDR seemed to be just talking to his neighbors sitting around the fireside. He was totally at ease. He was said later by David Halbestown to be America's first great radio voice. That nobody who had a radio would of thought of doing anything but listening to FDR when they knew he was going to be on the air. And if you didn't have a radio, you went to a more fortunate neighbor who did.
