The era began right after the climax of what was then the bloodiest war of all time, and it ended with the most devastating economic collapse in modern history. A not particularly able man, Warren Harding, was president at the turn of the decade. He was followed by a not particularly interested man. Calvin Coolidge spent two to four hours of every working day taking a nap. Coolidge was followed by Herbert Hoover and Hoover was followed by the Great Depression.
