Sokoban94: A Game Of Forethought And Strategic Design
Copyright (C) 1993 by Jim Radcliffe
All Rights Reserved
Hardware Requirements:
286 or better with VGA monitor, a keyboard would be nice too
What is Sokoban?
Sokoban is Japanese for "warehouse man". In Sokoban puzzles you must generally
push a number of boxes around the screen to a designated position. The key
word here is push. In Sokoban puzzles that is the only way you can move any
box. You must push it to its' destination.
What's the object of the Sokoban game?
Push all boxes n the board to the designated storage positions before time
runs out. You can only push one box at a time. Be careful you don't push
a box into a corner where you can't get it out.
I have written this version of Sokoban because so many people who registered
my SokoBall game (and also a number of Sokoban "Purist") also enjoy the
standard Sokoban game. They wanted the standard game and my graphics.
So here you are.
The puzzles that accompany Sokoban are not my creations. I wrote the code
for the game, not the puzzles themselves. The puzzles are the creation of
Hans de Vreught of the Netherlands and others who have contributed a puzzle
here and there over the last year or so. All are Public Domain. I have not
been able to solve all of the puzzles myself but believe that all of them
are solvable.
The Shareware Version
The shareware version of Sokoban comes with a number of Sokoban
puzzles to solve and an editor. The shareware version of Sokoban will NOT
save puzzles to disk. If you want to register your copy of Sokoban with the
author, send $10 in U.S. funds to the author at the address below.
The Registered Version
Registered users will receive the latest version of Sokoban, more puzzles and
the ability to edit and save your puzzles to disk. You will also be able to
turn the clock off (cheat) and simplify any puzzle for easier solving.
