ANT RUN DIRECTIONS
______________________
OBJECTIVE
The objective of Ant Run is to keep the ant running through the
ant hill tunnels as long as possible before it reaches a dead
end.
GAME PLAY
At the beginning of the game there is a game board filled with
different shaped passageways. At the top of the screen there
is a red ant which will move towards the top hole. The ant takes
10 seconds to reach the hole. Once the ant reaches the hole, it
will appear on the board from the grid marked START. Using your
mouse, you can click on any grid to rotate it clockwise. Your
objective is to create a continuous path for the ant to crawl
through. For the first 10 seconds you can also rotate the START
grid, yet once the ant emerges from it, it will remain stationary.
RESET AND INCHES CRAWLED
As the ant moves through the tunnels, they will turn yellow and
you will not be able to use them again. The only exception is the
crossing path grid which can be used more than once. You can have
the ant go OFF THE BOARD in any direction. It will then appear from
the opposite side. On the right side of the screen there is an INCH
METER. This measures the distance the ant has traveled. If you can
get the ant to travel 20 inches and can reach one of the sides of
the board, (providing the entrance on the other side is open) then
the grids which were yellow will now reset themselves and you can
continue to keep the ant moving by rotating the grids. Every time
that you are able to reset the board, a single black grid will appear
which can never be removed. The starting gate, if present on the
board, will now be removed and a passageway grid will take its place.
FAST BUTTON
On the left side of the board there are several buttons. One is
the FAST button. If you press the fast button while the ant is
on the game board, then the ant will speed through the tunnels at
a much faster rate. Once the ant reaches the sides of the board
and reappears on the other side, it will automatically slow down
again. This FAST button is very important because when the ant
is running in FAST mode, you get double the points for the distance
it travels. If you have set up a long series of tunnels that go off
and on the board, then use the fast key to get more points. This
assumes you have already established a consecutive path for the ant
ahead of time.
SCORING
At the beginning of each level there is a POINTS NEEDED total shown
at the bottom of the screen. In order to proceed to the next level
you must reach or surpass this point total in order to continue the
game. If you don't reach this point total by the time your ant
reaches a dead end, then the game will be over. The points needed
for each level is determined by this formula:
100 + (10 * LEVEL) + (plus previous score)
Points are scored for each few steps it takes through the tunnels.
An extra 3 points are given every time you can get the ant to exit
the board and re-enter it. These will be stored in the Bonus Point
total, and will be added to your score at the end of the level.
There are also GREEN BONUS TUNNELS which will sometimes appear on
the board. If you can get the ant through these, you will earn 20
extra bonus points.
BONUS ROUNDS
Every 2500 points scored, you will be awarded a Special Bonus
Round. You can only gain points during this round, however you
must have completed the previous level with the required points
needed in order to continue.
MULTIPLE STARTING GATES
On the higher levels, the game board might contain MORE then one
STARTING grid. You will not know which START grid the ant will
emerge from, so you'll have to plan ahead for each STARTING grid.
ENDING GRID
On some levels there will also be a RED ENDING GRID. This means
you MUST get the ant to end in this grid or the game will be over
no matter how many points you score for that level. This ENDING
grid CAN be rotated even after the ant starts to move on the game
board.
* REMEMBER WHEN YOU SEE A RED ENDING GRID, YOU MUST END THE ANT
THERE OR THE GAME WILL BE OVER NO MATTER HOW MANY POINTS YOU
SCORED FOR THAT LEVEL.

The mouse buttons on the left side of the game board can be
accessed at anytime during the game.
