Transcription: The towns of ancient Egypt lay in a ribbon along the Nile River. On either side there is a desert. Originally, Egypt was divided into two kingdoms, Upper or Southern and Lower or Northern Egypt. Nubia to the south of Aswan became a part of the Egyptian Empire during the Middle Kingdom.
