Transcription: Between approximately 880 and 626 BC, Assyria dominated all of Mesopotamia as well as the eastern Mediterranean coast and northern Egypt. Like the Babylonians and others before them, their empire linked Mesopotamia to the wealthy lands bordering the Mediterranean. Highlighted here is the extent of the Assyrian Empire under King Tiglath-Pilesar I. King Tiglath-Pilesar III extended the Assyrian territory further by conquering Babylon. The empire reached its greatest extent and included most of Egypt under king Ashurbanipal.
