Transcription: Petra was primarily known by these tomb facades. In fact, it was a common misconception that Petra was some sort of a large cemetery. Whereas in fact, it was a huge city. It was a capital city of Roman and Byzantine provinces. And therefore, these facades, which can be seen by tourists every day, they are only the beginning of the history of Petra, the only one landmark, one feature of the community which lived in that valley throughout the Nabataean Roman and Byzantine period.
