ocr: The original Hawailan language, passed along solely as an oral tradition, was put on paper during missionary times and lives today as a phonetic language wherein every vowel is pronounced. The language consists of only 12 letters, including the five vowels a-e-1-0-u, seven consonants h-k--m-n-p-W, and stops between vowels (as in "uh-oh").
