*REPORT.CFG file with annotations. For use with the MTGU utility.
*=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
*Put an asterisk like this at the beginning of an option to disable
*it. Lines beginning with <D>, <H>, <T>, and <F> can be edited, but
*the printed portions of these lines cannot exceed 65 characters
*in width; for reference, a ruler line is provided in each selection.
*Remember, anything _following_ an asterisk will be ignored and
*either is treated as a non-printing comment or a disabled option.
*Blank lines are also ignored; MTGU does all the necessary spacing.
*Do not change anything _inside_ a pair of <> brackets, else MTGU
*will not recognize it. Work only with a _copy_ of this file,
*never the original.
<D>Dec 20, 1993
*Date the report will be issued, or whatever date you wish.
*(Length of date plus length of first H line _only_ not to exceed 63.)
*If <D> is enabled but no <H> lines are enabled, the date will still
*print on a single line by itself, upper right corner of each report.
<H>Greenwoods School District #21
<H>Parkdale Crescent Public School
*<H>Teacher: Mrs. Your NameHere
<H>For an appointment, please call (602) 544-7722.
* 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345<--65
*Whatever you want in these 4 <H> lines above. Current contents are
*only suggestions.
<HRM>
<SN>
*Whatever data you have in these two fields in MTG will be printed
*along with the correct headings (HRm:, SN:, etc.), so do not change
*HRM & SN in this file to anything else. Underscored blanks are printed
*if data is absent.
<T>SECOND SEMESTER
<T>GRADE REPORT
* 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345<--65
*These title lines will be capitalized, centered, and wide-printed
*when possible (i.e. if the printer supports 5cpi and a title is 32
*characters long or less).
<ABSENCES BY CLASS>
*Prints total absences class by class; if disabled, just a single
*blank TOTAL ABSENCES: ___ entry is printed at the bottom.
<COURSE DESCRIPTIONS>
*only first 43 characters is printed and the remainder, if any, is
*truncated (max description length in MTG is 60 characters).
<LETTER GRADES>
*Prints letter grades as defined in your SET_UP.MTG or SET_UPM.TGP
*setup file.
<CLIP AVERAGES AT 100%>
*Clip course averages over 100%, e.g. 105%, to 100%.
<CLIP OVERALL AVERAGES AT 100%>
*Clip overall averages over 100% to 100% (if OVERALL AVERAGE is
*enabled). This option acts independently of clipping/not clipping
*_course_averages_, i.e. you can enable either, both, or neither.
*Obviously if course averages are clipped, an overall average _cannot_
*exceed 100%.
<RAISED PASS INTERVAL>3
*A digit between 0 and 9 after the `>' indicates how far below a pass
*will be raised to a pass. E.g., `3' means a mark from 47% (50%-3%)
*to 49% will be raised to a 50%, and a true 50% is raised to 51%, the
*default values in MTG's Class Summary report. For NO raised passes,
*set the interval to 0 or disable the line entirely with an *. This
*value applies to both course averages _and_ overall averages, depend-
*ing on whether raised passes are enabled (see below). The example
*provided above is based on a pass of 50%, but will use whatever
*pass value you have installed in your MTG setup file.
<OVERALL AVERAGE>
*i.e. Average (mean) of all course averages.
<OVERALL AVG w RAISED PASS>
*Applies raised pass to overall average if OVERALL AVERAGE
*and RAISED PASS INTERVAL are enabled.
<COURSE AVG w RAISED PASS>
*Applies raised pass to course averages if RAISED PASS INTERVAL is
*enabled.
<TOTAL CREDITS>
*Prints: TOTAL CREDITS: ___ MTGU cannot fill in the value for you
*because it has no way of knowing if a course is 1/4, 1/2, or full
*credit, or whether credits from previous semesters are to be in-
*cluded.
<EXPLAIN SYMBOLS>
Prints `* = No Score' and `_50_ = Raised Pass, _51_ = True Pass + 1'
*if raised passes are enabled.
<PASS>I recommend this student for advancement to Grade 5.
<FAIL>Please call to make an appointment.
* 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456<--
*A possible total of 4 comment lines may be printed per report, and
*they are normally blank (you can either edit the REPORTnn.FIL file(s)
*yourself after MTGU generates them, or enter them by hand on the
*printed reports). However, one of these two `boilerplate' comments
*may be inserted automatically based on an overall pass or fail, ONLY
*if you have OVERALL AVERAGE enabled; otherwise they will be ignored.
*Edit the comments to whatever you wish, maximum length 56 characters
*as indicated by the ruler line. One or both may be enabled.
<BLANK COMMENT LINE>
*<BLANK COMMENT LINE>
*<BLANK COMMENT LINE>
*<BLANK COMMENT LINE>
*Just prints a line of underscores for each one enabled. These are in
*addition to the PASS/FAIL comments you have enabled, up to a maximum
*of four lines, i.e. one PASS/FAIL + 3 blank lines.
<TEACHER SIGNATURE>
*<GUIDANCE SIGNATURE>
*<VICE PRINCIPAL SIGNATURE>
*<PRINCIPAL SIGNATURE>
<PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE>
*Prints: Teacher: ____________________, Guidance: ____________________,
*etc.; enable whichever signature lines are required, or none.
<F>PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN THIS REPORT NO LATER THAN JAN 8, 1994
*<F>HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY!
* 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345<--65
*Put whatever you wish in the <F> lines above, or disable one or
*both; they will print centered, right at the bottom of each report.
*<FF> *Print one report per page.
<FF2> *Print two reports per page (if possible).
*<FF3> *Print as many reports per page as will fit.
*<FF0> *No form feeds, i.e. no pagination whatsoever, all one chunk.
*If one or more of <FF>, <FF2>, <FF3>, <FF0> is enabled, only the
*last-read one counts (i.e. is enabled); they are mutually exclusive.
*(Two reports per page is set in this sample file.)
*<ONE REPORT.FIN>
*Print all reports to a single report file instead of default 100
*students per file & multiple files. (Best only for viewing because
*your printer may not hold enough paper to print one large file at once;
*that's what the multiple, smaller files are for.)
*<PRINTER CODES ENABLED>
*By default, MTGU reads and uses the printer codes in your SET_UP.MTG
*file. Disable this option with a leading asterisk to turn off all
*codes except form feeds (see <FF0> for that). Disable all printer
*codes if you plan to import the files into a word processor or you
*are a programmer and need to read just the student data minus ex-
*traneous stuff embedded in it.
