  9.     Making The Grade Utility is a companion utility for users of
  10.     the Making The Grade teachers' gradebook program.  This is a
  11.     `command line' utility  intended for  users experienced with
  12.     working in the DOS environment who feel comfortable with re-
  13.     naming, copying, deleting files, and other common DOS activ-
  14.     ities. MTGU provides a number of features for both MTG users
  15.     and for programmers who wish to write `school administrator'
  16.     type applications  that need to access  data in MTG/MTG Plus
  17.     course files  and then manipulate and interrogate that data.
  18.     Developers are encouraged to take advantage of  the detailed
  19.     notes on MTG/MTG Plus file structure in the accompanying on-
  20.     disk manual,that make it very easy to export data into dBase
  21.     /Clipper applications,and to also create MTG data files dir-
  22.     ectly from dBase programs.

  36. │1.Export data from Making The Grade data files to comma delim-│
  37. │  ited format,.SDF (system data format suitable for importing │
  38. │  into dBase IV), or directly to dBase IV (.DBF) format.      │
  39. │2.Convert Making The Grade data files to MTG Plus format, and │
  40. │  vice versa (40 x 40 format <--> 90 x 90 format).            │
  41. │3.Create `template' files from MTG & MTG Plus data files,with │
  42. │  only test names, descriptions, weights, max scores, etc.    │
  43. │4.Import a student roster in text format and create an MTG or │
  44. │  MTG Plus data file (optionally include homeroom,ID number), │
  45. │  or import a roster directly into a template file (see #3).  │
  46. │5.Export a student roster in text format,creating a .ROS file │
  47. │  in System Data Format or comma-delimited, the reverse of #4 │
  48. │6.From one or more MTG data files,generate a final report for │
  49. │  every student, containing grades from all classes (as many  │
  50. │  as 2000 students and 500 courses supported).                │

  56. chores even easier.  This utility  is only $11 US/$14 CDN and is
  57. distributed as shareware in  its entirety -- no `nag screens' or
  58. `crippled features'. Also watch for the latest shareware release
  59. of Making The Grade and MTG Plus, which are named MTG302.xxx and
  60. MTGP302.xxx respectively, available as of Nov 21, 1993.
