Re: CTDLSTAT.EXE: How and Why
I. Overview
Syntax: CTDLSTAT workfile.ext
The "workfile.ext" is NOT OPTIONAL.
CTDLSTAT.EXE is a program that digests the data in the file
indicated as the work file. You could use SYSDATA.USR which
is automatically generated and maintained by Citadel:K2NE beginning
with V5.09, or you could use SYSDATA.BAK which should be updated
as each caller logs out. You should place CTDLSTAT.EXE in the same
directory as that containing your CTDL.EXE and CTDLCNFG.SYS files.
When run, CTDLSTAT.EXE will generate a file called REPORTER.OUT, a
typical sample of which looks like this:
*** Activity Summary as of 2/21/90 at 00:05 ***
User Sessions (modem): 13 User Messages: 25
Network Sessions: 38 Node Connections: 31
Total Non-Mail Messages Forwarded: 84
Message/Caller Ratio: 1.92
Network Nodes/Session Ratio: 0.82
Network Msgs/Node-Connect Ratio: 2.71
After it runs, CTDLSTAT.EXE deletes the current copy of SYSDATA.USR
which has the effect of setting all the totals back to zero. Thus, you
probably will want to key CTDLSTAT.EXE to a Citadel #event and run it
once per day. This is in keeping with the report that is generated
when one of your Aides executes the ".AQT" sequence. The language of
that Aide report assumes a DAILY total.
For your convenience, here is a segment of BATCH file that will
accomplish the intended goals:
---<<excerpt starts here>>---
c:
cd \k2ne
REM 'CTDLSTAT.EXE' digests the Citadel session/net/message data
REM outputs it to 'reporter.out'.
ctdlstat sysdata.bak
REM now we stick it on the end of the call-log file
REM so let's move to the directory containing the log file 'calllog.sys'.
cd system
copy ..\reporter.out
copy calllog.sys+reporter.out tempfile.sys
copy tempfile.sys calllog.sys
del tempfile.sys
del reporter.out
REM now let's back it up with archive
copy archive.log+calllog.bak archive.log
copy calllog.sys calllog.bak
del calllog.sys
REM when we bring citadel back up the call log should restart itself
cd \k2ne\helparea
REM the next line makes the daily summary available to users at login
copy \k2ne\reporter.out logtext.004
REM now we are done all this fishiness.
cd \k2ne
del reporter.out
goto loop
---<<excerpt ends here>>---
The directory names in the preceeding BATCH segment conform to the
default directories created by the AutoInstalling version of Citadel:K2NE
beginning with the V5.07 release. If you are using a "roll your own"
directory structure, you will have to modify the directory changes
accordingly.
