The bank statement program was designed to aid in balancing your
checkbook with your bank statement. Used each month it will make the
chore quite painless.
There are some initial steps to start the program since most persons
using the program for the first time do not start out with a balance
of zero or start entries with check number 100.
This program consists of the BANK.EXE. Data files will be generated by
the program and will be stored in the same directory as the BANK.EXE.
TO START
At initial start up Page 1 will be displayed on the screen. (There are
five pages available for check entries.) Hereafter; the page you are on
when you ESC (quit) is the page that will display on start up.
To enter your present balance - press the F7 key. The "Other" page will be
displayed on the screen. Using the down arrow key move to the Previous
Balance field. Enter the ending balance from your last statement.
Press ESC key to remove the "Other" screen and page 1 will be ready
for entry of outstanding checks.
Move the cursor to the check number column and type in your first
outstanding check number. Press enter. The cursor will go to the amount
column. Type in the amount and hit enter. Check numbers will generate
sequentially. If entries are not in numerical order just move to the
check number column and change the number.
When you have finished entering all outstanding checks use the F2 key to
enter all ATM withdrawls not shown on statement and then use the F3 key
to do the same to enter deposits.
Use the F9 key to look at the "Summary" page. Balances are shown.
To clear the "Summary" page from the screen hit the ESC key.
TO QUIT THE PROGRAM
Press the ESC key. All changes will be saved and you will exit the
program.
EDITING
To make corrections in any fields use the F1, F2, F3 keys to move to the
area and then use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the incorrect
entry. Type the correct number and hit the ENTER key and the correction
is made.
Use the Insert/Delete keys to insert a whole line or to delete a whole
line entry.
Using the F9 key to look at the Summary page will now show corrected
balances. To clear the Summary page from the screen just hit the ESC
key.
STATEMENT BALANCING
Enter all checks written, ATM withdrawls, and deposits made during the
month, using the F1, F2, F3 keys as indicated previously.
Using the F4 key and the Y(es) and N(o) keys, mark each check that has
cleared the bank as shown on your statement. Do the same with ATM
withdrawals and Deposits using the F5 and F6 keys and the Y(es) and
N(o) keys in the same manner.
Now using the F7 key go to the "Other" screen and make the entries
indicated for bank charges, etc., as shown on the statement.
To clear the "Other" page from the screen hit any other "F" key.
Go to the "Summary" page using the F9 key and balances will be shown.
To clear the Summary page from the screen hit the ESC key.
Quit the program at any time using the ESC key.
