  2.                           ProComm Plus Host Mode Help

  4.     While in Host Mode, you have the following options:
  5.  
  6.          F)iles:        displays the files available for downloading
  7.          U)pload:       displays the nine upload transfer protocols available
  8.          D)ownload:     displays the nine download transfer protocols available
  9.          H)elp:         displays this file
  10.          T)ime:         displays the time you logged on and the current time
  11.          C)hat:         alerts me that you would like to 'chat' via keyboard
  12.          G)oodbye:      logs you off the system and terminates your call
  13.          R)ead Mail:    allows you to read posted public messages
  14.          L)eave Mail:   allows you to post public or private messages
  15.  
  16.     You may also have these two restricted options, at the Sysop's discretion:

  18.          S)hell:        puts you into DOS, giving you control over my computer
  19.          A)bort:        causes ProComm to terminate Host Mode
  20.

  22.     There are nine transfer protocols available for uploading and downloading:

  25.     A)SCII:             USE FOR TEXT FILES ONLY; no transfer error checking
  26.  
  27.     K)ermit:            universal transfer protocol, with error checking; often
  28.                         transfers files very slowly
  29.  
  30.     X)modem:            error checking protocol, but can transfer only one file
  31.                         at a time; requires both computers to be set to NO
  32.                         parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit (<speed>-N-8-1)
  33.  
  34.     T)elink:            Xmodem variant that allows for batch (multiple file)
  35.                         transfers, using wildcards; same requirements as Xmodem
  36.  
  37.     S)ealink:           'sliding window' Xmodem variant, with error checking;
  38.             usually much faster than Xmodem; permits batch file
  39.             transfers using wildcards (* and ?) in the filename;
  40.             same requirements as Xmodem
  41.  
  42.     W)xmodem:           'sliding window' Xmodem variant, with error checking;
  43.                         usually much faster than Xmodem; same requirements as
  44.                         Xmodem
  45.  
  46.     Y)modem Batch:      'large data block' Xmodem variant; with error checking;
  47.                         the larger data blocks make it much faster than Xmodem
  48.             except over very noisy telephone lines; permits batch
  49.             (multiple file) transfers by using wildcards (* and ?)
  50.             in the filename, or transfer only a single file by
  51.             by entering a complete name; when downloading, choose
  52.                         'YMODEM' on your program's transfer menu; same
  53.                         requirements as Xmodem
  54.  
  55.     G)Ymodem-G Batch:   like Ymodem Batch, but uses hardware (modem) error
  56.                         checking for much greater speed; requires an ARQ or MNP
  57.                         capable modem for BOTH caller and host
  58.  
  59.     I)modem:            like Xmodem, but uses hardware (modem) error checking
  60.                         for much greater speed; requires an ARQ or MNP capable
  61.                         modem for BOTH caller and host
  62.
