  3. Warning about ANSI.SYS on Epson Equity I and FNKEY.EXE

  6. Use NANSI.SYS exclusively on the Epson Equity I.  This arc file
  7. contains FNKEY v. 2.01, identical to v. 2.0 except that the update
  8. recommends using NANSI.SYS in its help screen.
  9.  
  10. After distributing FNKEY v. 2.0 in TARA.ARC, I discovered that it
  11. requires NANSI.SYS to work correctly on both my own Epson Equity I
  12. and the one at work.  The problem is either that Epson's ANSI.SYS
  13. does not allocate enough space for key reassignments, or else does
  14. not copy the '\0' string terminator to the template.

  16. You're warned, there's a solution, and debugging Epson's ANSI driver is
  17. not my problem  -- somebody in Japan, Inc. should have checked this pup
  18. out before it hit the streets, in my opinion.

  20. At any rate, Dan Kegel's NANSI.SYS cures (or at least ameliorates)
  21. a host of ills, including the incompatibility of FNKEY.EXE with 
  22. Epson computers.  NANSI.SYS is a journeyman job of work.  Use it.
