  6. Simtel.Net, which is located at Walnut Creek CDROM, is an excellent way
  7. for authors to distribute their programs on the Internet.  The MS-DOS,
  8. MS-Windows, and Windows 95 collections are mirrored by sites all over
  9. the world, providing exposure to millions of users on the net.  The
  10. latest list of authorized mirrors is always available at these URLs:

  17. All files submitted to Simtel.Net are scanned for viruses and trojans,
  18. and are reviewed by professional archivists.  Authors receive prompt
  19. personal attention in the processing and announcing of their uploads,
  20. which appear in Usenet newsgroups comp.archives.msdos.announce and/or
  21. comp.archives.ms-windows.announce (about 90,000 readers each) and in our
  22. MS-News mailing list (for those who do not have access to Usenet News).

  24.                    How to upload to Simtel.Net
  25.  
  26. Simtel.Net does not publish instructions for uploading files because we
  27. prefer to coordinate uploads by having contributors contact us first so
  28. we can check to make sure the program is not already in the archive.
  29.  
  30. File uploads are accepted via FTP using a special uploading account,
  31. via E-mail using a special mailbox which does not interfere with
  32. regular correspondence, or via dial-up Modem.
  33.  
  34. Authors (or authors' authorized agents), if you have a program to upload
  35. please send E-mail to  upl-info@Simtel.Net  with a short description of
  36. the files you wish to submit and the method you wish to use for uploading
  37. (FTP is preferred).  Please do not send files to that mailbox.

  39. Simtel.Net does not accept games for submission to the archives unless
  40. they are strictly educational.  Games which do not meet this requirement
  41. may be submitted to the games collection at Walnut Creek CDROM.  Upload
  42. instructions can be found in file /pub/games/incoming/UPLOADS.TXT on
  43. ftp.cdrom.com.

  45. The Simtel.Net collections are periodically published on CD-ROM by Walnut
  46. Creek CDROM.  If you do not wish to have your package distributed on
  47. CD-ROM please do not upload it.

  49. Programs that stop working after a fixed calendar date will not be
  50. accepted.

  52. We cannot accept any program that encrypts or decrypts using a method
  53. that may be subject to U.S. export restrictions.

  55. Simtel.Net does not have NT or OS/2 collections because Walnut Creek
  56. CDROM already has a very popular NT collection named NewT and a large
  57. OS/2 collection named Walnut Creek CDROM Hobbes on ftp.cdrom.com and
  58. its mirrors.  For information on how to upload to these NT and OS/2
  59. collections please contact djgruber@cdrom.com.
