Born in 1896, Stanton Coblentz began writing poetry, book reviews and non-fiction in the 20ΓÇÖs after completing his masters degree in English literature. His first scifi work, a utopian satire of underwater Atlanteans and contemporary Americans called The Sunken World, appeared in 1928. A popular writer of scifi pulp between the two world wars, CoblentzΓÇÖs work was appreciated for its well-conceived alien worlds. From this period comes another well-known underground satire, Hidden World (1935). Among CoblentzΓÇÖs later work are The Moon People (1964) and The Day the World Stopped (1968). Coblentz died in 1982.
