- \ / ell the Commodore takeover business is the hot word at the

-
- I'm sure that ESCOM will produce lots of A1200s for the XMas market.
- But what of the future? What do they know of the views of publishers,
- distributors, and your readers, the Amiga enthusiasts? I would
- apreciate it if you could ask your readers to send their views
- on what they would like to see in future Amiga hardware and software
- and if you would be so kind as to pass me some copies and send the
- originals to ESCOM. If your readers are on-line they can E-MAIL me
- on:
- almathera@cix.compulink.co.uk
-
- And i'll pass those on.

-
- ESCOM: Founded in 1987 by Manfed Schmitt is now the second largest
- european PC manufacturer. It sells in the UK through more than
- 250 shops (including 231 outlets it purchased from the Rumbelows/Fona
- chain). Escom is presen tin 10 countries and has a turn over
- of 1.2billion Deutsche Mark. (approx £400 Million).
-
- Escom is setting up a yet unnamed "Amiga-Commodore" company in
- Happenheim and has appointed Peter Kittle who was the technical
- guru at ex-company Commodore Business Machines.

-
- I had eleven years at CBM to study the wrong strategy and that which
- leads to success. I will spend all the effort to avoid these known
- errors... It is planned to restart production of the last current
- model palette, probably in full scale, but no guarantee yet for this.

- **> Dan Wood Editor of Amiga Page Magazine:
-
- I am really pleased that Escom have taken over the Amiga. We will
- all miss Commodore and their great machines through history. I have
- been following CBM since the PET, right through the C64, +4
- and the Amiga. We will all miss them. But a lot of the CBM staff
- are now at ESCOM, so the Commodore spirit will still continue just
- with the name ESCOM. They really did just dig their own grave
- by shit marketing and resting on their laurels in the early
- years. But let's sit tight and see how ESCOM cope...
- By the way ESCOM say that they will be bringing the C64 and the C65
- into the shops again! Good on em!

- **> Arnie Finen from Page:
-
- Commodore were a great company. Escom looks like they are pretty
- confident about the Amiga. But how well can a company which produces
- PCs do? I just hope that they devote enough time and see the Amiga
- as an individual machine and not another bloody PC clone. Also
- it would have been great if we were to see some of the original
- Amiga team working back with Escom. Sadly they have all moved on
- due to Commodore's cut backs. But maybe we will see a few well
- known faces return to the Amiga.
