  17. 3.12    New Stuff
  18. (May 95)
  19.     New Bitmap Display mode - You can now specify to display black
  20.         areas of you bitmap as transparent. This means you can
  21.         make a bitmap with large yellow lettering on a black 
  22.         background and it will appear as yellow  lettering on 
  23.         the blue gradient. (note: only compatible with non-stretch
  24.         bitmap placement modes)
  25.         
  26.     INI File support - You can now modify INI files during your     
  27.         installation.
  28.         - Add to any .INI file.
  29.         - Modify any .INI file.
  30.         - Tokenized ini processing to insert the user selected 
  31.           install drive and directory if required.

  33.     System Files - You can now modify AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS
  34.         - Check for minimum FILES and BUFFERS, modify if required.
  35.         - Append to AUTOEXEC.BAT and/or CONFIG.SYS
  36.         - Tokenized append processing to insert the user selected 
  37.           install drive and directory.
  38.         - User can choose to apply changes or not.

  40.     Automatic file placement - These files are auto-magically placed
  41.         on the first distribution, disk when used.
  42.         TileBitMap, Afterfile, Autoexec-append and Config-append
  43.  
  44.     Afterfile - now runs from the user chosen drive and directory. 
  45.         ie: if you specify your default to be C:\Myapp but the 
  46.         user installs to D:\Myapp2, SVI will install your 
  47.         afterfile to D:\Myapp2 and run it from there.

  49.     Readme - Readme file has been separated from the afterfile. You can 
  50.         now specify a readme file and which program to run it, 
  51.         Notepad or Write.

  53.     Restart/Reboot - You can now set SVI to restart windows or reboot the
  54.         user's PC at the end of the installation.

  56.     Disk Size - You can now specify the target disk as CD/Net and PRO_BLD
  57.         will build full distribution into DISK1.
  58.  
  59.     Disk Numbers - PRO_BLD now writes disk number information which SVI312
  60.         checks at disk change time to ensure user has put in correct
  61.         disk. Loops until either the correct disk is put in or the user
  62.         selects CANCEL.
  63.         
  64.     Improved error handling - you now have 'OK-CANCEL' choices on most errors
  65.         so you can skip on to next file or cancel installation.

  67.     Feedback on build, tells which file is being processed, "3 of 29" etc.

  72.     - PRO_BLD, Improved processing for 'Remove Project'. PRO_BLD was
  73.           getting confused as to when the last project had been 
  74.         removed. And setting wrong version number when creating new 
  75.         projects.

  77.     - SVI311 if set to gradient fill would colorover any 'Always on Top'
  78.         applications like Microsoft Office.

  80.     - Check file size, 'TOO LARGE' message if bigger than configured
  81.           disk size. ie: trying to put a 2MB file on a 1.44MB diskette.

  90.     Bitmap Position - Two new position added, Place_Low and Stretch_Hori-
  91.         zontal_Low. These are the same as Place and Stretch_Horizontal
  92.         except they place the bitmap at the bottom of the screen.

  94.     Gradient Fill and Tile Fill - For screen color you can now choose either a solid
  95.         color of a standard blue gradient fill or tiled bitmap.
  96.  
  97.     Pre/Post installtion messages - You can now specify a breift (255 character)
  98.         message to appear before installation, and a different message to
  99.         appear after. Of course, you do not have to use either if you don't
  100.         want to.

  102.     PRO_BLD
  103.     Options Screen - Got too big, split into 4 'Tabbed' panels.
  104.     New Project - Now carries SVI3 and compress configure information forward.
  105.     Compact Database - New menu choice under File to compact SVI.MDB.
  106.     310TO311.EXE - upgrader utility.

  108.     Multi-Add Subdirectory - When you select multiple files to ADD to a project,
  109.         you are now asked if you wish to set the SUB DIRECTORY for all files.

  112. 3.11c    Fixes - Gradient fill was not re-filling spot left after creation of program
  113. (Apr 95)    group.

  115. 3.11b    Fixes - PRO_BLD was not correctly setting up the Pre/Post install

  119. 3.11a    Fixes - PRO_BLD was not exiting correctly after doing a build. THe Tile bitmap
  120. (Mar 95)    flag was not being set correctly.

  123. 3.10a    Fixes - There was a bug in the setup of new project default values. The
  124. (Feb 95)    bitmap position parameter was set to 0 causeing no bitmap to be
  125.         displayed. If you changed the position the problem disappeared.

  128. 3.10    New Stuff
  129. (Jan 95)
  130.     Screen color - You can now set the screen color to whatever you like. This
  131.         is done with the new Pro-Build utility. (see below)
  132.  
  133.     Source Sub Directories - You no longer need to build a subdirectory tree
  134.         on your distribution disk to install files to sub-directories. In 
  135.         fact you no longer need to build your distribution disk, see Pro-
  136.         Build below.

  138.     Readme support - The Afterfile can now be used to run Notepad and bring
  139.         up your readme.txt file. (see Help for how to do this)
  140.  
  141.     CD / Network support - When you specify an icon is to be placed in the
  142.         program group you can also specify if the properties are to
  143.         point back to the source. ie: Installing a CD you want the icon
  144.         properties to point to a file on the distribution media - the CD.

  147.     Project Based Smart(er) Build Utility - This is the main enhancement of
  148.         version 3.1. See on-line Help for full details.

  152. 3.06    Fixes - SVI3 would go ahead and try to install to a drive that did not
  153. (Nov94)        have enough space.
  154.           - SVI3 would get real confused if you put TWO file names into
  155.         the afterfile (like "NOTEPAD.EXE README.TXT"). SVI 3.06 still
  156.         does not fully support using the afterfile to run NOTEPAD.EXE.
  157.         This is because SVI3 passes commandline parameters to the 
  158.         afterfile telling it where the user chose to install the 
  159.         application. To get the above to work you must make a manual 
  160.         change to SVINSTAL.SVI after it is built. Edit it with Windows
  161.         notepad, and add AT THE END:
  162.         [AfterFile]
  163.         AfterFileParameterFlag=N
  164.         Version 3.1 (available early in 95) will handle this for you.

  166. 3.05    Fixes - The source drive listbox was not set to display verticle scroll 
  167. (Nov94)        bars. This meant you could only choose from the first three drives.
  168.           - The 'Installation Complete' box did not come up on multi-disk
  169.         installations.        
  170.           - The %F token was not being parsed correctly.

  172. 3.04    Fixes - SVI3 fails when trying to install > 24 icons in a program group.
  173. (Oct94)        Caused by single long DDE command. Now modified to add icons in 
  174.         groups of 10. 
  175.         NOTE: The maximum number of icons that Windows will support in 
  176.         a program group is 50.

  178. 3.03    Fixes - SVI3 would fail after decompressing 16 files.
  179. (Aug94)          -    SVI3 would cause a protection fault in PROGMAN if more than 13
  180.         icons were being added into a program group.

  182. 3.02    Fixes -    SVI3, if you selected no bitmap, the calculation of number of
  183. (Aug94)        file to install would be incorrect.

  185. 3.01    Fixes - RunComp "Internal Error" if run more than once.
  186. (Aug94)          - Files redirected to Windows with icon displayed had icon
  187.         properties incorrectly set.
  188.           - Compress.exe, the orginally supplied compress.exe produced 
  189.         files that would decompress fine with the lzexpand.dll that
  190.         comes with Windows 3.11 but would not expand if using Windows
  191.         3.1's lzexpand.dll. Files compressed with the supplied 
  192.         compress.exe now work with both 3.1 and 3.11.
