  10. This file contains some of the fixes for many of the runtime errors of L-Soft 
  11. Atlanta software. Though each system is different and may present the user 
  12. with different symptoms and errors, we have tried to provide you with as much 
  13. information as possible to correct a situation.....

  16. Why Errors?

  19. Errors occur due to many things. The most likely cause of an error in Windows, 
  20. is a neccessary file not being found. Our software expects Windows files to be 
  21. in a Windows directory. This is done during the normal install of Windows for 
  22. you. If you have installed Windows without the usual install program supplied, 
  23. some of your files not be present, or you put them in the wrong location. 
  24. L-Soft software packages come with many files of their own, and an install 
  25. program. You MUST use the install program! If you installed it yourself, you 
  26. caused the problem already. Go back and re-install the software.

  28. DLL and VBX?

  31. These files are the Library files needed by Windows and L-Soft Atlanta software. 
  32. You MUST have the neccessary library files for the programs to work! 
  33. Our Software come with all the files needed for proper operation. If you 
  34. downloaded the software from an on-line system or BBS, some of the files
  35. may not be present! The most likely one removed was VBRUN300.DLL! This is the
  36. library file for the Software Compiler we use to write the programs, and MUST
  37. be installed in your Windows/System directory! Our Software looks no place
  38. else for it!! BBS systems remove this file to conserve disk space, and can
  39. usually be had by downloading the DLL itself and placing it in Windows.

  41. The VBX files are software libraries which allow the programs to function.
  42. The main library file for all L-Soft Atlanta software packages is L-SOFT.VBX!
  43. This file is our "Vista Turbo Engine" and "MaxTrax" file systems. These files 
  44. allow all our software to run in a much faster pace called "Turbo Speed" and 
  45. to maintain Multi-File Handling through "MaxTrax".

  47. LED.VBX is another library file used by most L-Soft Atlanta software and is
  48. our "Low Embedded Disk" interface engine. This file is used to access many
  49. of Windows .INI "information" files and to call up Windows programs through
  50. the "Utility" button and to access API calls. If any of these are not present 
  51. the software WILL STOP!!  LED.VBX is not used in database style systems since 
  52. MaxTrax doesn't need it!

  57. Since we use "MaxTrax" for Multi-File handling, ALL our software require
  58. SHARE.EXE be loaded in your "AutoExec.Bat" file. The system will corrupt if
  59. this is not done!!! Check your DOS manual for info on setting up your file.
  60. The correct line to add is: SHARE.EXE \F:500 \L:5100. This will insure file
  61. "Locking" and the proper use of all your system files by our software. Failure
  62. to add this line is the #1 cause of all Tech Support calls received, even
  63. though we placed it on disk, and in the ReadMe file. PLEASE add it!!

  65. Other Errors!

  68. Other errors reported seem to be hardware related: Not enough memory, error
  69. reading Share, Share not loaded, file not ready, not able to access this file
  70. , Drive not ready, etc. By the way, error reading share is a hardware error 
  71. too, since we found it occured on a machine with a hard drive failure*
