  2.                    DIRT (cheap) PAD, V1.0  Information 6/95

  5. This program is "almost, kinda, sorta" freeware. If you have registered any of 
  6. my other 3 shareware programs (RESDUET+, PLAIN OL' BUTTON BAR or YOUR
  7. FILE CABINET) then you are already registered for this. All you need to do is
  8. place a copy of the *.MDG file from one of the other programs into the same
  9. directory as DIRTPAD.EXE (or place DIRTPAD.EXE in the other program's
  10. directory).

  12. If you like DIRT (cheap) PAD and want the "almost, kinda, sorta" free 
  13. registration,just register one of my other programs (as listed above). It's 
  14. like BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE. These other programs are all available on CompuServe
  15. (several forums), America Online (Windows Magazine forum), the Internet, various 
  16. BBS's around the country and on many CD's AND the registrations are only $15(US) 
  17. for RESDUET+ and PLAIN OL' BUTTON BAR or $30(US) for YOUR FILE CABINET.

  19. You can check out my World Wide Web site on the Internet (The Kamikaze 
  20. Connection) to download any of these programs (the info is near the bottom of

  22. looks best using the Netscape viewer. This is where you can learn about my

  25. The files to look for are RESDUET+ (resdu2a.zip or resdua.zip), PLAIN OL' BUTTON 
  26. BAR (plainbar.zip or planbr.zip) and YOUR FILE CABINET (filecab.zip or filcab.zip).

  28. There is no separate registration for only DIRT (cheap) PAD so if you want it, 
  29. you'll need to register one of the above programs. If you have already registered 
  30. any of the above programs and have no way to download DIRT (cheap) PAD (how would 
  31. you be reading this?), then send $5(US) for shipping and handling and I will send 
  32. you the floppy with this program...be sure to send the name, address and program

  53. DIRT (cheap) PAD Features:
  54.  
  55.     A)  Edit very large text files
  56.     2)  Search hard drive for file then double-click to open in DirtPad (if
  57.         file-type is associated to DirtPad)
  58.     3)  Text Search and Replace remembers previous 10 search words/phrases
  59.     D)  Button bar with most functions available.
  60.     E)  Click button to load DOS/Windows system files
  61.     F)  No useless help file (in fact, no help file)
  62.     7)  Set font style, size and color and textpad backcolor
  63.     8)  Right-click different sections of status bar to open various 
  64.         functions 
  65.     H)  Status bar info when mouse cursor over buttons & status bar
  66.     10) Right-click in textpad to open edit menu

  69. DIRT (cheap) PAD "Undocumented Features":
  70.  
  71.     1)  Recent files list doesn't delete the menu item and re-order the 
  72.         list after a file is deleted from the File*Delete File menu. The
  73.         file is deleted though. 
  74.     B)  Edit menu items aren't disabled when not applicable (big deal)
  75.     3)  If you double-click a text file associated with DirtPad and 
  76.             DirtPad is already open, it does not load the file in DirtPad.

  78.     These will be fixed in a later version (when time permits).

  82. To run DIRT (cheap) PAD you will need the VBRUN300.DLL Visual Basic runtime
  83. file (found on most BBS's) in your Windows or Windows/System directory
  84. (as long as this is in your path statement). Then add a new program
  85. item to one of your groups (File*New*OK, etc.) using the icon with
  86. DIRT (cheap) PAD.

  88. The files included with DIRT (cheap) PAD are:

  91.     dirtpad.txt - this file
  92.     To be placed in any directory.

  94.  B) threed.vbx
  95.     cmdialog.vbx
  96.     commdlg.dll
  97.     csform.vbx
  98.     cscmd.vbx
  99.     emedit.vbx
  100.     mlist.vbx
  101.     qpro200.dll
  102.     ctl3d.dll
  103.     These files need to be placed in your Windows directory (or Windows\System
  104.     if in your path) if you don't already have them. (Please make sure this is
  105.     the most recent version).

  108.     Will be created in the same directory as the main dirt.exe file.
