Using the program
-----------------
The program is very easy to use. Just fill in the blank spots as required.
It will first ask you what you want to use as the title for the CD. This will
be what is visible in the end windows of the CD case when the paper is
inserted. You will then be asked how many lines of text to print on the face
of the insert sheet. The shareware version has a maximum of two lines. The
registered version will print up to 12 lines. When you've entered the last
line, the cover outline and titles will be generated and sent to the printer.
With the shareware version you have to run the program for each title. The
registered version will produce multiple copies of one title if you want.
The registered version doesn't need to be restarted for each new title.
Be sure the printer head is just below the paper perforations when you start.
The printer will be form fed for each cover produced.
Shareware Version vs. Registered
--------------------------------
You have the shareware version and can see how it works. The registered
version does not have the shareware messages. It also allows
12 lines of text on the cover and has your name, or something else if you
wish, embedded in it which you can optionally print on the cover. The
registered version also allows you to print multiple copies, so you don't
have to run the program for each cover.
Home Use
--------
If the Compact Disc Cover program is being used by an individual in a
not-for-profit environment, which would most likely be at home to label some
discs, registration is NOT required, but I do ask that you to send me a note
saying what equipment it is being used on, and comments on how well it works.
If you would like the latest shareware version, you can download it from the
support BBS, or send $8.00 in Canadian or United States funds and I will send
you a registered copy ( and some other shareware I'm working on) with your
name embedded in it. Specify 5¼ or 3½ disk.
Non-profit Organization Use
---------------------------
If the Compact Disc Cover program is being used in a not-for-profit or
charitable venture, this program can be used at no cost, except that I
REQUIRE you send me a note stating who you are, where and how it is being
used, and where you got your copy from. I will then send you a registered
version with your name embedded in it. ( And who knows, I may even send
a donation your way.) Specify disk size you'd like.
Commercial Use
--------------
If the Compact Disc Cover program is being used in a for-profit venture, you
MUST register the program. The cost is $8.00 in Canadian or United States
funds, which gets you a copy of the latest version, with your name or other
text embedded in it, sent to your door. If you plan on using this program
on more than one computer, or on a network, add to the above price $2.00 per
printer attached to the computers and/or network after the first printer.
The first printer is included in the base price.
Government Use
--------------
If the Compact Disc Cover program is used in a government environment,
the program must be registered. Use the commercial rates as outlined above.
Shareware Collections / CDROM's / Music CD
------------------------------------------
If you would like to include the Compact Disc Cover program in a shareware
collection that will be sold or given away, whether by CDROM or on floppy
disk, I require that you send me (at no charge) a copy of the distribution
version of the CDROM or floppy disk(s), as the end-user would receive it.
I also hope that you would call the support BBS and download the latest
version for inclusion on your CDROM or floppy(ies). There are no other
requirements.
If you intend to provide this program as the cover maker for your CDROM,
the same requirements still hold. I require that you send me one distri-
bution copy of the CDROM as the end-user would receive it.
Support BBS
-----------
Smokey's Den BBS at (604) 923-2386 will have the latest version of this
program. It will be called CD_COVxx.ZIP, where the "xx" is the version
number. The BBS runs PCBoard so you can use `L' at the main prompt to
`L'ocate the file. Wildcards can be used. After signing on, you can type
at the main prompt -
L CD_COV*.ZIP
- and the board will search and display the versions of Compact Disc Cover
that are on the BBS. The latest version will have the highest number.
