PRINTING BESTHES' DOC
To print any of BesThes' DOC - REGISTER.DOC, BESTHES.DOC or
INSTALL.DOC - type at DOS command line:
COPY C:\DIR\filename.DOC PRN/B <ENTER>
Where C is the drive and DIR the directory where the file is
found. (Replace filename by the name of the file.)
INSTALLATION
Nothing is simpler than installing BesThes.
BESTHES consists of twelve files:
1) BESTHES.COM, 2) BESTHES.DIC, 3) BESTHES.CDF, 4) BESTHES.DOC,
5) INSTALL.DOC, 6)BW.BAT, 7)BESTHES.WND, 8)OMBUDSMA.TXT,
9) REGISTER.DOC, 10) LICENSE.TXT, 11) VENDOR.TXT, and
12) FILE_ID.DIZ.
Copy or PKUNZIP them (or at least the three operative files
.COM, .DIC and .CDF) to a specially created subdirectory,
bearing in mind that:
1) The path cannot include extensions within the names of the
subdirectories, e.g.
C:\WORDPROC.ENG\THESAURU\BESTHES.DIC - wrong.
C:\WORDPROC\THESAURU\BESTHES.DIC - correct.
2) The only workable drives are A, B and C, (if you have a DOS 6
DOUBLE-SPACED drive C you must copy BESTHES' files onto the
HOST drive of C).
D:\WORDPROC\THESAURU\BESTHES.DIC - wrong.
3) If you have a partitioned fixed disk, you must place BesThes
in the first partition.
A REINSTAL.BAT will help you to move BESTHES' files to a
workable drive if they have been installed in a wrong one.
4) A DOS v3.2, or subsequent, is required.
IMPORTANT! Don't change the names of BesThes' files.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU INSTALL BESTHES IN THE HARD DISK
IN ORDER TO ENJOY ITS MAXIMUM SPEED.
- 2 -
If you want to copy/move BESTHES to a drive other than the one
where they have been PKUNZIPed, you can take advantage of the
REINSTAL.BAT:
Change the current path to the path where BESTHES' files are,
and type REINSTAL <ENTER> or REINSTAL X <ENTER>, where X may be
A, B, C (or the host drive of C if DOUBLE-SPACED).
A directory \BESTHES will be created in the specified drive (C
is the default), and the BESTHES' files copied into it. Then,
if you want, BESTHES' files will be deleted from their previous
location.
-*-*-
BesThes may be loaded in the high memory, thus saving
conventional memory for other applications.
When calling it up for first time, BesThes may report that
its files are too fragmented. In this case, you must do the
following:
1) Rename the .COM .DIC and .CDF BesThes operative files.
2) Copy, or PKUNZIP for a second time the BesThes files onto
your fixed disk. Since the overly fragmented area of your disk
is now filled with the renamed files, the new ones will be
copied onto another area. (It doesn't matter if you copy them in
the same subdirectory or in a different one.)
3) Try BesThes again. If it works, delete the renamed files,
and enjoy BesThes. If it doesn't - which is highly
improbable, repeat the procedure, copying BesThes onto a
third area of your disk.
-*-*-
You don't have to know anything about BesThes in order to enjoy
it. Each BesThes screen includes a complete description of all
relevant instructions.
Type BESTHES (including the path, if needed) and press <ENTER>.
Read the screen carefully and go on.
In any case, it is a good idea to read BESTHES.DOC.
- 3 -
BesThes has been carefully debugged, but not in conjunction with
all existing wordprocessors. Therefore, we recommend that you
save your file before calling up BesThes from within your
wordprocessor.
-*-*-
Incompatibility with QEMM, prior to v7.04, has been reported by
some users. We have tested Besthes successfully with QEMM
7.04.
IMPORTANT
Always keep a backup copy of BesThes on hand. Any alteration of
its code, which can be the result of various causes, will lead
BesThes to suspect the presence of a virus. From that moment on,
the altered copy will no longer work.
