UNPROTO.sys Version 6.7
APRS sets your ALIAS to RELAY and your Unproto path to APRS VIA RELAY so that
all NEW users report their position via their neighbors. This should only be
TEMPORARY until you find your best DIGI (or neighbor), then use its exact CALL
not RELAY. Mature APRS nets should install permanent WIDE area digipeaters to
simplify the network. Dedicated wide area APRS DIGI's should have the alias of
WIDE so that mobiles can go area to area using WIDE without changin their digi
path. Tailor your path using combinations of exact CALLs or generic RELAY/WIDE
calls. YOU are responsible for your own best path. AVOID generic calls, tho,
since users midway between two RELAYS/WIDEs will ALWAYS hear collisions. WIDEs
WIDEs should be well separated. Use the TAB key to show your current path.
NEW NETS - Set to RELAY,CALL to cover your neighbors and toward CALL.
APRS DIGI - Use DIGIcall (or use WIDE if you are midway between two WIDEs)
- Never use WIDE,RELAY or maximum QRM results and no one decodes it!
Mobiles - Mobiles can go via WIDE or WIDE,WIDE for maximum range
ON HF - Set your path to via GATE,WIDE so you will pass into VHF gateways
Do NOT digipeat on HF unless its an emergency
The OPS-DIGI command can save up to 13 different paths for quick access.
