  10. Weather Delays Historic Shuttle/MIR Docking Mission
  11.  
  12. The STS-71 launch team at the Kennedy Space Center has scrubbed today's
  13. launch attempt due to weather.  The next attempt to launch the STS-71
  14. flight to the MIR Space Station will be no earlier than Tuesday June 27.
  15. The launch window on this date opens at 19:32 UTC and is ten minutes long.
  16. Please note that there are concerns regarding Tuesday's weather.  If the
  17. weather looks questionable, another launch date will be scheduled.

  48. SA AMSAT TO HOLD SPACE COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE IN DURBAN SOUTH AFRICA ON
  49. SEPTEMBER 9

  51. The Southern Africa Amateur Radio Satellite Association (SA
  52. AMSAT) will be holding its annual Space Communications conference
  53. in Durban South Africa this year. Spacecon 95 will be presented
  54. in co-operation with the University of Natal's Department of
  55. Electronic Engineering on September 9.
  56.  
  57. Spacecon 95 will be arranged in two streams catering for both the
  58. newcomer and the more experienced satellite enthusiast. The main
  59. stream will feature satellite technology and operation while the
  60. supplementary stream will focus on satellites as an educational
  61. primer. The theme of Spacecon 95, which has strong self-education
  62. overtones, is: "Development through Experimentation".
  63.  
  64. The two stream approach at the conference will make attendance
  65. by high school, technikon and college science educators as well
  66. as students who wish to take up careers in the electronic and
  67. communications industry particularly relevant.
  68.  
  69. While a number of proposals for papers have already been
  70. received, there is still opportunity to submit proposals for
  71. papers. Please send synopsis of a proposed paper(s) to Spacecon

  117. AO-27: On Tuesday, 20-JUN-95 at 2326 UTC, the FN transponder on AO-27 was active.
  118. VE8EV at his Inuvik, N.T. QTH and AL7JK of Eagle River, Alaska were monitoring AO-
  119. 27 during a polar pass. The transponder became active after passing the terminator
  120. at 77 deg N. latitude.  Much to their excitment they were able to QSO on the next
  121. orbit also!  Also, VE8EV reports that the FM repeater has been active all week
  122. whenever the satellite is in the sun.  Almost no activity at all even when over
  123. the USA.  Some European activity
  124. was reported by OH5LK.  [AL7JK & VE8EV]

  126. AO-10: In the sun and with good pointing angles.  Very strong signal returns
  127. when covering Asia and NW North America.  Fairly busy when over NA/Europe.

  130. AO-13: Lots of DX activity with the 9H (Malta) and Carribean expeditions.
  131. Activity from North America seems to be down from last year but European
  132. activity is as strong as ever. [VE8EV]

  134. FO-20: In mode JA full time now and working very well.  Lots of activity on
  135. both sides of the North Pole.  [VE8EV]
