  81.   REGISTERED VERSION
  82.   If you are installing the registered version of this program, simply
  83.   insert the disc you received into your external drive and run the
  84.   setup program discribed below.  The disc contains all the necessary
  85.   files to run WinFin.
  86.  
  87.   BBS DOWNLOAD
  88.   If you downloaded the program from a BBS, you must unzip the files into
  89.   a temporary directory on your hard disc, i.e., "C:\temp".  The total
  90.   size of the unzipped files is greater than 1.44Meg and will not fit on
  91.   a single floopy.  See "SETUP PROGRAM" below for instructions to install
  92.   the program.  After installation, you can delete the unzipped files in
  93.   the temporary diectory. Note:  In order to conserve space on the BBS
  94.   and minimize your download time, the file VBRUN300.DLL may not be
  95.   included in you download.  You probably already have this file in your
  96.   \windows\system directory.  If not, it is readily available on most
  97.   BBS's.  Search for VBRUN3.Zip, etc.

  99.   FROM A CD-ROM
  100.   The files are already unzipped, uncompressed and ready to run.  Simply
  101.   execute WINFIN.EXE or use the menu interface provided with the CD-ROM.
  102.   See "SETUP PROGRAM" below for instructions to install the program.

  104.   FROM A SHAREWARE DISC VENDOR
  105.   Disc vendors frequently provide their own installation program to
  106.   transfer the files from the disc to your hard drive.  If not, look
  107.   for the file setup.exe and follow the instructions below for running
  108.   the setup  program.
  109.  
  110.   SETUP PROGRAM
  111.   The setup program, setup.exe will copy runtime and program files to the
  112.   proper directories on your hard disc.  It will also create a Windows
  113.   Program Group with icons to run the program and bring up the
  114.   instruction manual for easy printing.
  115.  
  116.   From program manager, select 'File' and then 'Run'.  Type in the drive
  117.   and path that hold the program files to be installed, followed by the
  118.   setup program SETUP.EXE.  Thus from the external drive, you would use:
  119.  
  120.  A:SETUP.EXE

  122.   or if the program files were stored in a directory called "temp" on
  123.   your C drive:
  124.  
  125.  C:\Temp\SETUP.EXE

  127.   you may run the setup.exe from File Manager, by double clicking
  128.   on SETUP.EXE in your A drive.

  130.   You will be asked to enter a directory for the program files.  If it
  131.   does not exist, it will be created.  The program files will be copied
  132.   to this directory and the other files copied to you WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  133.   directory.  A program manager group for WinFin is created.  Double
  134.   click on the "Instructions" to bring up this file and print it out.
  135.   No changes to your Config.Sys, Autoexec.Bat or INI files are made.
  136.  
  137.   PLEASE take the time to printout, or at least read, the WINFIN.WRI
  138.   file.  These are the instructions for the program.

  140. PROBLEMS
  141.   It is best to close ALL programs except Program Manager when running
  142.   the setup program.
  143.  
  144.   This setup program copies several files to your \windows\system
  145.   directory.  If you experience a problem during installation or
  146.   trying to run WinFin, it is most likely due to an older version of
  147.   one of these files elsewhere on your hard disk, probably in your
  148.   \windows directory.  Thus when WinFin loads it looks for these files
  149.   and uses the first one of the name it needs.  If this is an older
  150.   version, you will get an error message.
  151.  
  152.   For example, after a successful installation and upon running WinFin,
  153.   you may get an error message saying you are using an old version of
  154.   CMDIALOG.VBX.  The reason is that when WINFIN.EXE loads, it looks for
  155.   CMDIALOG.VBX.  If you have an old version in your \windows directory
  156.   and a new version in your  \windows\system directory, the program
  157.   will use the first one it comes across in your path.  The cure for
  158.   this problem is to do a file search for the file named as causing
  159.   the problem.  You may be surprised to find the same file name in 2
  160.   or 3 different locations.  The only one you want is the the most
  161.   current one which will be in your \windows\system directory.  Rename
  162.   the other copies to CMDIALOG.OLD.  When you do this you may get
  163.   another error notice that the file is in use and cannot be renamed
  164.   or deleted.  If this happens, simply exit windows and you may even
  165.   have to reboot.  You may have to rename or delete the file from DOS.
  166.   Remember, you want the files in \windows\system, so these should not
  167.   be deleted or renamed.
