  121. TCN PROGRAM INSTALLATION AND STARTUP
  122.  
  123. Installation and startup of The CONSTITUTION Notebook Program can be
  124. slightly different depending on whether your copy came from a CD-ROM, a
  125. disk vendor, or a BBS.
  126.

  129. TCN PROGRAM STARTUP
  130.  
  131. The first time the TCN program is run following installation, up to 5
  132. screens are automatically displayed to help you get started.  Spend as
  133. much time as you like on each screen.  (You CAN manually access them
  134. later.)
  135.  
  136. The last of these screens offers to automatically start EASY QT, an
  137. automatict quick tutorial.  TCNbP Company urges you to click Yes.
  138.  
  139. Some CD-ROM install programs will automatically launch the TCN program
  140. after installing it.  This is ok.
  141.  
  142. Otherwise, the TCN program is generally started using the Program Manager
  143. icon.  You can also start it from the file manager TCN.EXE icon or by
  144. using the Run option of the Windows Program Manager File menu.
  145.  
  146. NOTE:  Do not attempt to run TCN.EXE directly from the CD-ROM (by
  147. clicking on the TCN.EXE icon or by using the Run option of the Windows
  148. Program Manager File menu).  It will not work.

  152. INSTALLATION FROM CD-ROM

  154. Some CD-ROMs include a "canned" install program which can be used to
  155. install many or all of the programs contained on the CD-ROM.  TCNbP
  156. Company allows the TCN program to be installed by such programs.  Consult
  157. your CD-ROM documentation.  If its canned install program will install
  158. the TCN program, you can use it.

  160. NOTE:  If your CD-ROM does not include such an install program, you can
  161. install the TCN program using SETUP.EXE or TCNSTALL.BAT.

  165. INSTALLATION FROM DISKETTES
  166.  
  167. Use the program SETUP.EXE to install the TCN program from diskettes.
  168.  
  169. NOTE:  If SETUP.EXE is not included (or does not work on your machine, as
  170. sometimes happens), use TCNSTALL.BAT and then run TCNSETUP.EXE from the
  171. target install directory you indicated.  See the file SETUP.DOC in the
  172. target install directory for more information.

  176. INSTALLATION FROM BBS DOWNLOADS
  177.  
  178. To install the TCN program using files downloaded from a BBS:
  179.  
  180. 1.  Unzip the compressed file in a scratch directory.
  181.  
  182. 2.  Use TCNSTALL.BAT to install the TCN program files in the directory
  183. where you will operate it.
  184.  
  185. 3.  Run TCNSETUP.EXE to create the Program Manager icon for the TCN
  186. program.  When the prompt appears concerning the icon only option, click
  187. Yes.

  192. Version 3.3 of the TCN program focussed on the user documentation.

  194. The new documentation is available under a new menu called Evaluation.
  195.  
  196. The default tutorial offered when the TCN program is started after
  197. installation is called Easy QT.  The flow of information in Easy QT is
  198. logical beginning with a few pages that tell you how to use Easy QT
  199. itself.  This is followed by a few more pages that introduce the TCN
  200. program and study of the Constitution in a non-technical manner.  Then
  201. follows the technical information and exercises that let you know how to
  202. actually operate the features of the TCN program.  Easy QT automatically
  203. saves your place.

  205. Topic review (previously part of Tutorial I) is now a separate menu item
  206. under the Evaluation menu.  Access is easier - status information is
  207. clearly presented after you have reviewed some topics - and you have a
  208. better way of knowing what will be saved as your resume topic.

  210. Quick Tutor lets you jump around in Easy QT materials.  A two-page
  211. outline of available materials can be printed out on paper to guide you.
  212. Also, QT lets you access some information not covered in Easy QT.

  214. In addition to the documentation changes described above, the interactive
  215. registration screen was greatly simplified.

  227. By virtue of the fact that you possess a copy of the TCN Program, TCNbP
  228. Company grants a limited license to use and distribute this software.

  231. LIMITED LICENSE FOR USE OF THE TCN PROGRAM

  233. TCNbP Company grants you a limited license to use the TCN program for
  234. evaluation purposes as follows:

  236. ANYONE can use the TCN program for the greater of 20 times or thirty
  237. days.

  239. STUDENTS enrolled in:   public school,

  241.                         parochial school,
  242.                         college,
  243.                      OR

  250. HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS can use the TCN program up to one school year, not
  251. to exceed twelve months.

  254. program for the trial period that applies to you.  If you use the TCN
  255. program beyond the applicable trial period, you are obligated to
  256. register.  Refer to the various options of the Shareware menu (within the

  259. You may not use, copy, rent, lease, sell, modify, decompile, disassemble,
  260. otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the licensed program except as

  266. LIMITED DISTRIBUTION LICENSE FOR THE TCN PROGRAM

  268. Your license to distribute trial copies of the TCN program is a
  269. permanent license.  TCNbP Company grants this distribution license to

  272. ANYONE can distribute unmodified copies of the TCN Program trial version

  275. ANYONE can charge a nominal fee for providing trial copies to
