  1. How MicroCook has evolved..............
  2.  
  3. Version 1.2 - Released as shareware in September 1993. 
  4. Original version.
  5.  
  6. History from version 1.2 to 1.38 is deleted. The history became
  7. too long because a lot happened to MicroCook the last year.
  8.  
  9. Version 1.38 - Maintenance release November 1994.
  10. - Added printing from ASCII File viewer. 
  11. - Added option in Setup to enter your own personalized heading on
  12.   the printout of recipes (See SETUP, ALT-U). (Thanks to Donald
  13.   A. from New York for that idea).
  14. - Added search on whole word or syllable in disk search/view.
  15.   A search on the word NUT with search on whole word will not
  16.   find nutmeg or nuts, while search on syllable will find them.
  17.   (Thanks to Charlie G. in Texas for asking for that feature)
  18. - Added "hot-key" for fast change between editors. CTRL-Arrow Up
  19.   will move cursor the next editor up. CTRL-Arrow Down will move
  20.   it to editor below the current.
  21. - Fixed "bug" in Index Select mouse routine. A double click on an
  22.   index line will now react much faster when loading the recipe.
  23. - Added "beep" (If Sound ON in Setup) when using CTRL-PageUp or
  24.   CTRL-PageDown, and you are at the end of the database and start
  25.   over again.
  26. - Including over 2000 FREE recipes when registering.
  27. - Added a few new Screen Saver graphics.

  29. Version 1.50 - Release March 1995
  30. - Added MasterCook II and MasterCook Mac ASCII Import.
  31. - Added separate conversion program for Edna's Cookbook ASCII
  32.   recipes.
  33. - NEW, "cleaner" BBS friendly ASCII Export format. No more
  34.   formatting codes or other "weird" characters in output ASCII
  35.   file. V.1.5 will still import V.1.3  and V.1.2 MicroCook ASCII
  36.   format.
  37. - Created left margin in printout so there's room to punch
  38.   holes for 3-ring binder without cutting out text too. Request
  39.   from Brenda S. and Orville H. 
  40. - Moved Screen savers out as separate EXE file, and (of course)
  41.   added a several new screens. Without the screen saver activated
  42.   in Setup (0 in time, or blank file name) there will be room for
  43.   approx. 200 recipes more per database. You can also use an
  44.   other screen saver you might have. See MCDOODLE.TXT for all the
  45.   details.
  46. - Fixed bug in index and disk search so the recipe numbers will
  47.   be displayed in the Index if activated.

  49. Version 1.55 - Release April 1995
  50. - Added possibility to mark recipes as Deleted after an Export.
  51.   This would be the same as if they were Moved out from the
  52.   database. This was a request from Anthony B. plus several
  53.   other users. Keep the ideas coming!
  54. - Added possibility to search on second word when searching for
  55.   Ingredients in disk database. If two search words are used,
  56.   both must be in the Ingredients to pass. i.e. chicken AND rice.
  57.   Many registered users also asked for this feature.
  58. - Added new Hot-Key, ALT-B, so the last compiled Index from a
  59.   search can be accessed again without a new search. 
  60. - Added new line at bottom of Index window that display how many
  61.   recipes was found during a View search. Thanks to Ralph C. for
  62.   the suggestion.
  63. - Added Warning in Index if more than 20% of the recipes are
  64.   marked for Deletion. Un-necessary recipes in a database only
  65.   slow MicroCook down, so a Pack should be done.
  66. - Added new Hot-Key, ALT-W, for fast printing of the recipe
  67.   currently in the editor. No questions - just print!
  68. - Moved Printer Check in File Viewer so the printer won't get
  69.   checked until F9 (Print file) in the File Viewer is pressed.
  70. - Fixed small bug in Index. The Index could possible crash if ALL
  71.   recipes in a database was marked as Deleted.
  72. - And last but no least: Added the possibility in Setup for mouse
  73.   cursor customizing! Use any color combinations and any of the
  74.   253 characters in the ASCII table as mouse cursor. The old
  75.   transparent cursor is still available. But try these numbers
  76.   in the mouse cursor setup: 14, 4, 15. Can't miss that cursor on
  77.   the screen!
  78.  
  79. Version 1.65 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  80. - Made tagging with mouse cursor in Index Select more sensitive.
  81. - When tagging in Index Select, the cursor will now move down to
  82.   next recipe. Hold down the spacebar for "speed tagging".
  83. - Major overhaul of all pop-up windows. Now with much larger,
  84.   mouse friendly buttons.
  85. - Added printing to all functions where the ASCII file viewer are
  86.   used. 
  87. - And zapped a few, smaller bugs:)

  89. Version 1.66 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  90. - Fixed bug in MicroCook ASCII Import. The last recipe in an
  91.   ASCII file could possible be lost during import, and cause an
  92.   "Input past end of file" error. 
  93. - Added the possibility to add a left margin when printing from
  94.   the ASCII file viewer. Most ASCII files will print flush left,
  95.   so if a hole punch for a 3-ring binder is used, letters will
  96.   also be punched out. An 6 to 8 character left margin would
  97.   prevent that.
  98. - Added option for registering with Credit Card (via phone
  99.   (800#), fax, e-mail, or regular mail)
  100. - Updated the "Register MicroCook" window (select from Print
  101.   menu), so both viewing and printing of all registrations
  102.   information and forms are available from MicroCook.

  104. Version 1.67 - Maintenance release May 1995.
  105. - Fixed bug in Meal-Master ASCII import. If the ingredients in
  106.   the MM ASCII recipe was in 2 columns, some of the ingredients
  107.   could be mixed up. Also if a header was used in a 2 column MM
  108.   ASCII recipe, the ingredients could end up under the wrong
  109.   header.
  110. - Fixed bug that could cause the Index display to be "scrambled"
  111.   if a recipe was deleted from the Last Search Index.
  112. - Added new button when verifying recipes during import. Now the
  113.   Verify can be turned off during Import so the import will
  114.   continue non-stop.

  116. Version 1.68 - Maintenance release June 1995.
  117. - Fixed bugs in Meal-Master and MasterCook ASCII Imports. 
  118. - Added option to left or center justify ingredients lines when
  119.   importing Meal-Master ASCII recipes.
  120. - Added option to remove x from ingredients in imported Meal-
  121.   Master ASCII recipes (i.e. 1 x Clove Garlic -> 1   Clove
  122.   Garlic)
  123. - Fixed bug in Disk View.

  125. Version 1.81 - Upgrade release June 1995.
  126. - Increased Preparation Editor capacity by 16 lines, for a total
  127.   of 50 lines. This came after a request from Gus J. P., and
  128.   several other MicroCook users.
  129. - Added automatic conversion utility for recipe databases prior
  130.   to v.1.81
  131. - Fixed a bug in Load by Number that was created in v.1.68.
  132. - Added save of default MicroCook ASCII export width. 
  133. - Fixed bug in all Imports. A recipe was lost if started out with
  134.   Verify, then selected Non-Stop import.

  136. Version 1.91 - Upgrade/Maintenance release August 1995
  137. - Added File Manager with Copy, Move, Delete, Rename, View, Print
  138.   (From View) and Edit of any files. The ASCII editor has built
  139.   in Macros for editing ASCII recipes in other formats before
  140.   Import into MicroCook. Approx. 50Kb file capacity in ASCII
  141.   editor.  
  142. - Added Sort on recipe numbers in Index (F8). Can be handy if you
  143.   want to group all the last imported recipes together at the top
  144.   of the index (sort descending). 
  145. - Added Warning window IF MicroCook is loaded through Windows AND
  146.   the DOS mouse driver is NOT loaded. Windows mouse driver do NOT
  147.   work with MicroCook, or any other DOS programs.
  148. - Added ALT-C, Clear All, and ALT-M, Mark All recipes when
  149.   tagging (Delete, Print & Export) in Index.
  150. - Added a new way to tag recipes. If ENTER is used, the tagging
  151.   will stop at the bottom of the page. A Page Down will display a
  152.   new page with the cursor bar on top recipe. If Spacebar is
  153.   used, it's as before. Cursor will keep on going to the end of
  154.   the index.
  155. - In "Delete this recipe" (ALT-Z) fixed bug. PC crash if deleting
  156.   last recipe in the index listing with ALT-Z.
  157. - Added option in Setup to disable warning prompt when "Delete
  158.   This recipe" (ALT-Z) is used.
  159. - Moved options in Meal-Master Import re. Left or Center
  160.   justified, and removal of 'x' in Ingredients during import, 
  161.   to Setup. 
  162. - Added option to command line prompt to disable the 'fancy'
  163.   screen transitions between Index and editor. Type MCOOK HELP
  164.   from the DOS prompt for details. Suggestion from Andy B. in
  165.   Indiana.
  166. - Fixed bug in Setup that prevented a blank line to be entered as
  167.   recipe header on printout.
  168. - Fixed bug in Index Select. Error IF current search (View) was 
  169.   shorter than the previous one AND the cursor was previously
  170.   moved to the end of index.

  172. Version 1.92 - Maintenance release October 1995
  173. - Fixed bug in recipe printing. If no header was selected,
  174.   default header was used.
  175. - Fixed bug in Setup editor.
  176. - Removed "Disable prompt" window when using 'Delete This Recipe'
  177.   (ALT-Z). This prompt can now be enabled/disabled from Setup.
  178. - Removed 'Justification selection' window at start of MealMaster
  179.   Import. These variables can now be set in Setup.
  180. - Fixed bug that could give an error if an ALT-Z (Delete this
  181.   recipe) was used after an edit & save.
  182. - Misc. small "clean up & fixes".

  184. Version 1.96 - Upgrade release February 1996
  185. - Added use of Extended (XMS) or Expanded (EMS) memory for
  186.   Overlays. This will remove any "Out of memory" errors, and also
  187.   increase the database capacity with over 100%! MicroCook can
  188.   now load in as little as 400 Kb of free conventional RAM, and
  189.   still have room for recipes. See the manual (MCOOK.MAN) for
  190.   more details. Note: Do NOT use file compression programs like
  191.   PKLITE or LZEXE on MCOOK.EXE. This is due to the Overlays.
  192. - Added menu "help" on bottom screen line.
  193. - Added timed file buffer flushing to prevent lose of data during
  194.   power outage, PC lock up, or an accidental trip over the power
  195.   cord to the PC:)
  196. - Added a full editor in an external program to fill out
  197.   registrations. Make registration even easier!
  198. - Added option to Pack the database after recipe deletion in
  199.   the Index.
  200. - Fixed bug that removed any tagged recipes when sorting during
  201.   recipe deletion in Index select.
  202. - Fixed a few (small) bugs, and tuned some routines for better
  203.   speed.   
  204. - And added 150 displayed recipes limit in Index select. This
  205.   should be enough when evaluating an un-registered version. I
  206.   know that's about impossible to get all people that use
  207.   MicroCook to register. But from e-mail and other "sources" it's
  208.   clear that a LOT of people are still using MicroCook without
  209.   registering way past the 30 days evaluation period.

  211. Version 1.97 - Upgrade release May 1996
  212. - REMOVED 150 recipe limit in Index select!!
  213. - Added split-window for comparing duplicate recipes either
  214.   during imports or when entering from editor. Two recipes can
  215.   also be selected in the Index Select for comparing. This
  216.   function was requested by many. 
  217. - Added possibility to create a KEY file in MicroCook after
  218.   receiving serial number from NORSKi Software. No need to wait
  219.   for disk with the KEY. But the disk with the KEY, MCDBFIX and
  220.   the 2000 recipes will be sent to you anyway.
  221. - Moved more routines to Overlays so more memory left for the
  222.   recipe index array.
  223. - Added Auto-Config the first time MicroCook is loaded.
  224. - Fixed bug in duplicate checking when entering recipes from the
  225.   editor.
  226. - Fixed bug in "Create New Database."
  227. - Fixed bug in "Pack."
  228. - REDUCED REGISTRATION FEE TO $15.00
  229. - Less "Please Register."

  237. it's more involved that first anticipated. But probably in a
  238. later version.

  242.     Many of these additions and improvements were suggestions
  243. from MicroCook users. So it help to "complain", plus it might
  244. result in a FREE registration if the bug has not been reported
  245. before. Together WE can make MicroCook better!
