  11. by the installation program.

  29. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  32. Select the RUN command from the FILE menu of the Program
  33. Manager.  Run the program "install.exe".

  38. UPGRADE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  42. Manager.  Run the program "install.exe".

  46. EASY UPGRADE INSTALLATION:
  47. If you already have a previous version of Fund Manager
  48. on your computer you can install this newer version
  49. directly over your old version.  During installation
  50. specify the directory where your current version is
  51. located (eg. c:\finance).  You can continue to use your
  52. existing data files.  Your old version of Fund Manager
  53. will be overwritten.  New samples will be installed in
  54. the samples sub-directory.

  56. ADVANCED UPGRADE INSTALLATION:
  57. If you want to try this new version before deciding to
  58. upgrade, install this version to a different directory
  59. (eg. c:\finance2).  Version 8.0 uses a new data file 
  60. format.  Once you save your data files with version 8.0 
  61. or later older versions will not be able to directly read
  62. the new file format.  If you only want to experiment with
  63. version 8.6 you should operate on a copy of your data files.
  64. (Remember that portfolios contain the full path of the 
  65. investments they contain, so after making a copy of your
  66. data files, you should not use your portfolios, as they
  67. will be pointing to your original data files.)

  70. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

  73. Fund Manager (copyright 1993-6 by Mark Beiley) is a shareware
  74. application.  If, after a reasonable period, you decide
  75. that you find Fund Manager useful and plan to continue to
  76. use it, please register with the author.
  77.  
  78. You may use the file "register.txt" or the registration
  79. form included in the online help to register.  A printable
  80. manual may be ordered on the registration form.  The
  81. manual is identical to the on-line help, but you may order
  82. the manual in either a Microsoft Word or plain ascii text
  83. file format.  This will allow you to print out the entire
  84. manual for easier reading.  The manual may either be
  85. mailed on diskette through the mail, or sent elec-
  86. tronically.  The cost to receive the manual on diskette is
  87. $5.00.  The cost to receive the manual electronically is
  88. $2.00, but is only available if you have provided either a
  89. CompuServe or America Online user ID on your registration
  90. form.  If you choose to order the manual please specify
  91. which data format you prefer: Microsoft Word 2.0 for
  92. Windows or plain text.

  117. electronic mail.  Questions are normally addressed within 1
  118. or 2 days.  To keep costs and registration fees down, long

  126. You will be sent a registration letter, which includes a
  127. name, serial number, and password combination to be 
  128. entered into Fund Manager.  This information will enable
  129. the registered version of Fund Manager.  If you have provided
  130. an electronic mail address the letter will be sent to the
  131. specified address.  Otherwise, a letter will be sent through
  132. the US mail.

  134. All registered users are entitled to 3 years of free
  135. technical support from the author.  Mark Beiley may be
  136. reached by either US mail, telephone, or electronic mail at
  137. the addresses and number listed above.

  139. Three free sets of historical prices (excuding S/H).
  140. Registered users also have the option to purchase additional
  141. price data sets.  See the Price Order Form in the online help.

  194. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  197. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  198. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and
  199. continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual
  200. programs differ on details -- some request registration
  201. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
  202. period. With registration, you get anything from the simple
  203. right to continue using the software to an updated program
  204. with printed manual.

  207. software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with
  208. a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware

  242. Fund Manager is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
  243. charge to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it
  244. with your friends, but please do not give it away altered

  246. supported" software is to provide personal computer users

  248. provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop
  249. new products.  If you find this program useful and find
  250. that you are using Fund Manager and continue to use Fund
  251. Manager after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
