SUMMARY.APR APRtrak Summary
APRtrak works best at 9600 or 4800 baud. See README.apr, APRtrak.doc and
HELP.apr
APRtrak monitors the channel for BCNs, POSITS, OBJECT reports, and APRS msgs.
It accumulates a list of all stations and all BEACONS and places all positions
on the map. APRtrak sends data as UI frames, using a decaying period so that
old data fades away. The packet period doubles after each packet, settling to
one packet every 15 minutes. The ToGo box shows time to next transmission.
You may query the network using the OPS-QUERY command. To Query just one
station, send it a message with '?APRS'.
Add an object on the map using the cursor and INPUT-ADD. Transmit selected
packets using the X key. APRtrak sets the receive filter to OTHER so that it
will look at all OTHER packets and not just BEACONS. One line msgs can be sent
to other stations using the S key. Use K to Kill incomming and E to Erase
outgoing traffic. For a quick demo, use the FILE-LOAD and the FILE-REPLAY
commands. See DEMOS.txt. Small yellow crosses mark map centers for maximum
initial viewing size. You may toggle on/off the automatic loGing of BEACONS
and POSITS to disk.
***** all times are in DATE-TIME-GROUP format (DAY-HOUR-MIN (DDHHMM) ******
APRtrak stores new BCNS in the ALL list in order and maintains a LATEST list.
Posits are saved in the Plist. White objects are automatic, purple are manual
yellow are yours, blue are weather, cyan are dead reckoned and gray are old.
APRtrak not only plots mobiles with GPS/LORAN interfaced to their TNC, but
also displays manual posits. The position of a vehicle entered by one station
will be displayed and dead reckoned on all screens until the next update. You
can disable DR'ing if desired.
APRtrak can also display the predicted positions of up to 9 spacecraft from
a file of Keplerian elements. Hit the W (WHERE) key to toggle on the orbital
display. Use the Alt-F key to toggle on/off a FAST trace to see where the
satellites are headed...
Use J key to show Just one symbol type at a time. The shortest possible
position packet is sinply a packet with a 6 character grid-square in the
TO field. Enter the alt-SETUP-SPACE mode to configure for sending you POSIT
in this mode. See SPACE.txt for anticipated uses of APRtrak in AMSAT.
For program registration and validation info, hit the F1(HELP)-V command.
Use V to VIEW all packets or R to READ mail. Use the OPS-COMM-TNC command to
use your TNC in dumb terminal mode, but with APRS processing disabled.
