  1. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  3. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  4. before buying it. If you try a shareware program and continue
  5. using it, you must register. All copyright laws apply to 
  6. shareware, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a 
  7. few specific exceptions as stated below. Like shelfware authors, 
  8. shareware authors are accomplished programmers, and the programs 
  9. are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good 
  10. programs and bad ones!) The difference is the method of 
  11. distribution.  The shareware author specifically grants the 
  12. right to copy and distribute the software, either in general or 
  13. to a specific group.

  15. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You 
  16. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether 
  17. it's found on a store shelf or shareware. Shareware makes fitting 
  18. your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.  And 
  19. because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware has 
  20. the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the 
  21. product, you don't pay for it.

  27. "WinFin is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all 
  28. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation, 
  29. the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.

  31. consequential, which may result from the use of WinFin.  
  32. Good data processing procedure dictates that any program be 
  33. thoroughly tested with non-critical data before relying on it,
  34. and the user assumes the entire risk of using the program."

  37. Share it with your friends, but please do not give it away altered 
  38. or as part of another system.  Please remind them to register if 
  39. they find that they can use it. The essence of "user-supported" 
  40. software is to provide personal computer users with quality 
  41. software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for 
  42. programmers to continue to develop new products.

  48. installation, and a registration number will be mailed to you.  To
  49. expedite your order, you can order by FAX.  Upgrades downloaded
  50. from BB's are free to registered users.  Be sure to include your
  51. credit card number and expiration date.

  53. Treat this program like a book.  For example, this software may 
  54. be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one 
  55. computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility 
  56. of it being used at one location while it's being used at another, 
  57. just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the same 
  58. time.  Site-License or quantity arrangements at substantial 
  59. discounts are available.
