  26.   This document contains known bugs and fixes for the Virtual Tablet
  27.   Interface by Version (Release Date) and Filename (Zip File). Fixes or
  28.   work-arounds are included with each problem unless otherwise noted.

  37.               I M P O R T A N T
  38.                           =================
  39.  
  40. 1. You must remove other tablet drivers before or immediately after
  41.    installing the Virtual Tablet drivers. Otherwise, port conflicts
  42.    will occur resulting in erratic behavior or hung cursors. Places to
  43.    check include: AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI.
  44.    Also, check your Windows startup folder for other tablet utilities.
  45.  
  46.    Remember to check in the [386Enh] section of SYSTEM.INI for other
  47.    enhanced mode Windows drivers besides VTABLET.386. If you are still
  48.    experiencing difficulties, check and report to us the error output
  49.    on the "Status=" line in the [Virtual Tablet] section of SYSTEM.INI.
  50.    You may also zip and mail us copies of SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI (after
  51.    installation) to review for you.
  52.  
  53. 2. Please remember to consult the file DIGITIZE.TXT and make sure
  54.    your tablet is configured correctly. While every attempt was made
  55.    to use the factory default settings for each tablet, some were
  56.    changed to assure maximum performance. If you experience erratic
  57.    or no cursor movement, check the data bits, parity and baud rate
  58.    settings for your tablet.
  59.  
  60. 3. A bug in Windows Write 3.1 erroneously writes static bitmap images
  61.    as OLE objects. This can result possible error messages (depending
  62.    on your display and printer types) when opening the manual with
  63.    Write 3.0.  Try saving the file as a Write 3.0 file which will strip
  64.    the bitmap images out. The manual is still both printable and
  65.    readable but without the screen shots.

  697.    until the screen is painted before clicking the scrollbar arrow
  698.    or pressing a cursor key again. Alternatively, you can scroll
  699.    quickly and issue a Redraw command from the View menu (Ctrl+R).

  701. 2. FIXED: Build command problems have been noted with applications such
  702.    as CorelDraw, AutoCAD for Windows, Ventura Publisher, etc. where
  703.    menus comprise bitmap images or cascade to deep levels (and no
  704.    error message was given!). The workaround requires unchecking the
  705.    Cascade Menus option in the Build dialog box. This will work for
  706.    cascading menus containing bitmaps (CorelDraw) but not for top-level
  707.    popups (like AutoCad for Windows).
  708.  
  709.    This problem has been fixed in Version 1.01 (download VtExes.Zip)
  710.    along with an error message if the Build fails. Bitmap menus are
  711.    now ignored since they have no keyboard interface unless supplied
  712.    by the vendor (see vendor's documentation and draw them manually).

  714.    Note: The maximum level of cascading menus permitted is 3 counting
  715.          from the menu bar. This is because the resulting regions can
  716.          become too small to distinguish visually on screen or by hand
  717.          on the digitizer's surface. Also, the maximum number of
  718.          regions currently supported is 256 which ''could'' become
  719.          exhausted by deep builds on cascading menus. Finally, the
  720.          maximum number of items per menu is 25. Beyond that they are
  721.          truncated after asking you if you wish to continue.
  722.  
  723. 3. NOTE: Build problems can also occur on Multiple Document Interface
  724.    (MDI) applications, such as Word for Windows 2.0, if the build
  725.    command is applied before the application is opened or its menus
  726.    accessed. This is because some MDI applications wait to initialize
  727.    their menus when first accessed and cannot be scanned correctly by
  728.    Build (which now builds them anyway). Open the MDI application and
  729.    roll the cursor across the menu bar dropping down each submenu
  730.    before using the Build command to work around this.

  735. 1. FIXED: Some problems have been noted using multiple instances of
  736.    VTABLET.DLL loaded as both the mouse driver and an installable

  739.    closed. This has been fixed in Version 1.01 and the workaround
  740.    simply requires loading the library in only one configuration, ie.
  741.    mouse, library or pen tablet. The functionality of the driver is
  742.    not affected in any way. If you are not sure how it's loaded under
  743.    Windows 3.1, check the control panel for multiple icons - if more
  744.    than one - and change SYSTEM.INI accordingly.

  746. 2. NOTE: Templates work fine under Window 3.0 but the cursor will not
  747.    respond unless VTABLET.DLL is the designated mouse driver.  Under
  748.    Windows 3.1, VTABLET.DLL can manage the mouse cursor with another
  749.    pointing device (like a mouse) even if not designated as the mouse
  750.    driver. Check the 'mouse.drv=' entry in the [Boot] section of
  751.    SYSTEM.INI to see if VTABLET.DLL is the mouse.
