- OS/2 2.1 Compression Compatibility Package
-
- Starting in late June, OS/2 2.1 began shipping a reduced diskette
- package to take advantage of better diskette compression techniques.
- These diskettes are salmon in color (the original package contained
- blue diskettes.)
-
- Because the layout of the diskettes is different for the two packages,
- the enclosed CMD files will need to be run to allow selective
- installs to work correctly if the installation package is
- different from the package that is currently available to you.
-
- This diskette contains files which are to be used to alter
- the user's system to accommodate the other OS/2 package. This
- procedure is to be used only in those situations in which a user
- has a mismatch. If you are not sure if you have a mismatch, run
- the CHECK.CMD file to determine which version and type of package
- is installed.
-
- The steps to follow are:
-
- 1. Run CHECK.CMD to determine which package was originally
- installed and follow its instructions for the correct
- CMD file to use.
-
- 2. Run the appropriate CMD file (for example, BLU2SAL3).
- Follow the instructions in the CMD file to correctly alter
- the diskettes.
-
-
-
- The files contained in the self-extracting ZIP file are as
- follows:
-
- CHECK.CMD used to determine the version of OS/2 2.1 and the
- type of diskettes used to install the system.
-
- BLU2SAL3.CMD used for conversion of a system originally installed
- with "blue" 3.5 inch diskettes going to the "salmon" 3.5 inch
- diskettes.
-
- BLU2SAL5.CMD used for conversion of a system originally installed
- with "blue" 5.25 inch diskettes going to the "salmon" 5.25 inch
- diskettes.
-
- SAL2BLU3.CMD used for conversion of a system originally installed
- with "salmon" 3.5 inch diskettes going to the "blue" 3.5 inch
- diskettes.
-
- SAL2BLU5.CMD used for conversion of a system originally installed
- with "salmon" 5.25 inch diskettes going to the "blue" 5.25 inch
- diskettes.
-
- Four EXE files used by the conversion CMD files to alter the
- reinstal.ini files.
