The configuration of electrons in noble or
inert gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton,
xenon, and radon). This is characterized by
full electron shells around the nucleus of an
atom, which render the element stable. Any
ion, produced by the gain or loss of
electrons, that achieves an electronic
configuration similar to one of the inert
gases is said to have a noble gas structure.
