  1. A molar is one of the large TEETH found 
  2. towards the back of the mammalian mouth. The 
  3. structure of the jaw, and the relation of the 
  4. muscles, allows a massive force to be applied 
  5. to molars. In herbivores the molars are flat 
  6. with sharp ridges of enamel and are used for 
  7. grinding, an adaptation to a diet of tough 
  8. plant material.
