  3. purpose. In writing, jargon may be highly
  4. formal, whereas in speech it often contains
  5. slang expressions. Jargon is often used to
  6. disguise unimportant information in
  7. complicated language, to mystify certain
  8. information, or to make information
  9. inaccessible to those who do not know the
  10. jargon. Jargon is often also known as
  11. gobbledygook/gobbledegook and is
  12. subcategorized as, for example, bureaucratese
  13. and officialese (the usage of bureaucrats and
  14. officials), journalese (the languages of
  15. newspapers), and medicalese (the often
  16. impenetrable usage of doctors), and so on.
