A jacana is one of seven species of wading
birds, family Jacanidae, with very long toes
and claws enabling it to walk on the flat
leaves of river plants, hence the name `lily
trotter'. Jacanas are found in Mexico,
Central America, South America, Africa, South
Asia, and Australia.
