  1. Any plants of the family Chenopodiaceae,
  2. including fat-hen or white goosefoot,
  3. Chenopodium album, whose seeds were used as
  4. food in Europe from Neolithic times, and also
  5. from early times in the Americas. White
  6. goosefoot grows to 1 m/3 ft tall and has
  7. lance- or diamond-shaped leaves and packed
  8. heads of small inconspicuous flowers. The
  9. green part is a spinach substitute.
