  3. schists (blue schists), which are formed form
  4. the ocean floor basalt under metamorphic
  5. conditions of high pressure and low
  6. temperature; these conditions are believed to
  7. exist in subduction systems associated with
  8. destructive plate boundaries (see plate
  9. tectonics), and so the occurrence of
  10. glaucophane schists can indicate the location
  11. of such boundaries in geological history.
